If you use a pattern lock on your phone, and attempt to use the Emergnecy Button on the homescreen while it is locked, you will not be able to place an emergency call until you unlock the phone with the right pattern.
PLEASE ---- Do not use the lock pattern if you are concerned about quickly being able to get to 911.

Especially if you might be calling from a bar.
gotta love the verizon and samsung testing. They take all that time and still can't get it right which is nothing new as there is ALWAYS problems with the updates they push out.

It has come to the attention of Samsung Mobile during the recent DL09 OTA (Over-the-Air) update for the Samsung Fascinate that some users utilizing the Pattern Lock are finding that the Emergency Call shortcut is not automatically launching the dialer. However, unlocking the device will allow the user to make calls as they normally would, including emergency calls. We apologize for the inconvenience and are continuing to evaluate the issue, including if the issue is linked to the update.
