I have a new Samsung Fascinate and wonder if I have to use gmail to access Google Market and other google features. It requires me to set up a gmail account, but I wish to use my current email service and do not want to use gmail.

it'll be the main account under the gmail app but you can turn off sync for mail, contacts and calendar associated with that gmail account.

you have to have a gmail account to access the market as apps are tied to that account. No way around it.

OK, but do I have to have gmail as my primary email account on my phone? Or, can I just ignore it once I've set it up?

Thanks, I think I have it figured out...I added gmail as another account and I now get incoming emails from both sources. Cool!
