Downloads unsuccessful

When I got my phone everything was perfect.  And then, out of the blue I couldn't download and receive the apps I was trying to download. When I click on something I want everything looks normal and just as quickly I notice the the arrow at the upper left if already red.  When I slide it open  it reads "Download unsuccessful"  Can you hear my frustration.  What is going on.  I am sure I hit the wrong button somewhere but I don't know where.

Please help....  Anything!

Try doing a soft reset on the device.

Press the Power key.
Touch Power off.
Touch OK.
Press the Power key to power on the device.

Then dial *228 send and option 1 on the device.  

If you have downloaded an antivirus protection application, make sure it is not conflicting with the applications you are downloading.
