Dual SIM issues

Hi all.  My first post as a 24 year Verizon customer.  It's been a long haul without a lot of tech support over the years.  I keep falling for the assurances that this tech support rep or that rep will actually do what they say, "No worries! I will make sure that I am the last person that you will talk with today!"  That was one intro after 3 hours in chat's and calls and as you can guess they were not the last person.

So I got Dual Sim about 3 weeks ago and have had a variety of issues, everything from my Spam call blocking no longer working, to cellular data stopping, to no inbound or outbound texting.  Every time it would take dozens of reps passing me around like a hot potato and I would have to start over each time.  6 or 7 of them promised to call.  1 or 2 did but then give up on fixing anything.

The hard part is that I took my landline work number and moved it to Verizon as a second number on my cell phone.  My company of 25 years has had this same phone number and now that I lost my landline I have to put up with the abusive support team to keep my company afloat.  Without my work number I go out of business.

The Dual Sim is pretty cool in theory, but Verizon has a lot to fix.  I have had a variety of support tickets including the coveted NRB### ticket that goes to the network team no one speaks with.  They closed the ticket without doing anything.

If someone has a suggestion on what to do please reply.  If there is a single point of contact at Verizon that wants to help then please do.  I'm too tired to keep spending countless hours to be abused by calling, or chatting, or texting Tech Support.  Maybe this is just a warning to others that may want to get dual sim.

Is the second line/SIM on your phone the Second Number promotion?  If so, the 2nd number is talk/text only, no data which would explain the lack of internet access on the 2nd line, but I don't know why your texts wouldn't work.  Unless maybe Second Number only supports the very basic SMS and no graphics, GIFs, or weblinks.

I now know that the second number doesn't have data, but the data switch option in SIM settings doesn't work.  If I put the second number as the primary, so I can call out from my work number, cellular data doesn't work.  The whole point of getting the number on my cell was so I could have caller id for my work number show up on the receiver phone.  Now I'm stuck using my personal phone number for outbound.  I think the dozens of tech support people tinkered with my account and created more issues such as texting not working.  The Spam Call blocking is a big deal too.  I used to have my work phone forwarded to my cell phone., so Spam blocking would work on my cell number.  But as soon as I added my work number to my phone Spam blocking didn't work for my work number.

Your apps are using data, so if the 2nd number which has no data access is assigned as the primary SIM, then there will be no internet access.  When I was looking elsewhere on the internet, I'm not sure you need to assign a primary SIM so to speak - you should just be able to switch between the SIM cards to use whichever number.  You will need to assign which SIM gets data access.  An internet search engine will come up with plenty of information on how to set this up for either Android or iPhone.

If the Second Number as is continues to cause conflicts on your phone due to not having any internet access, the only other thing I can think of is you'd have to upgrade the 2nd line to a service plan which includes data.  I want to say it can be a different service plan than whatever your primary SIM card is, and you'd probably qualify for a multi-line discount since it is 2 lines, but those are questions for CS.

Hello, Mercap. Help is here. Just to confirm, is this regarding a business account?

No, it is a personal account.  I also need to learn more about moving from this phone to a new version of the same model phone and a new SIM card.
