They offered to send me a refurbished phone after I did a factory reset and that didn't work. If this refurb phone doesn't work, I'm going to get another one, possibly an Iphone. Andriod is ticking me off.

What were some of the reasons you chose an Android phone in the first place? Were there features that it had? What issues are you having that is making you so upset?

I'm really hoping that verizon will offer me a different model phone.
My Fascinate has had nothing but problems. My friends that also have the Fascinate have nothing but problems, too.
The 2.3 update made the default texting app A NIGHTMARE. It always hits the back button by itself when I'm right in the middle of typing.
The basic functions of this phone aren't working for me, and it was the same story with the first fascinate I had.
I'm just fed up with this phone.
OP, if you could please keep us updated on whether or not Verizon offers you a different kind of phone.

I understand completely. I'm not sure I want there factory refurbished one either. They have no guarantee that one will not have the same issues. I actually got my phone through best buy, talking to one of the sales associates, he said I was eligible for an upgrade. That will probably be the route I end up going. he even said the Fascinates were glitchy from the start. Wish I knew that when I bought it.

Kiirah, that is strange about your reset. Can you explain to me the steps you took to do the reset? Why did you reset your phone in the first place? Were you having device issues? If so what kind of issues were you having? Since you were having issues with time and date displaying incorrectly did you set it correctly? Are you still having issues with the display or anything else?
If so I would suggest doing another master reset. Here are the steps to do so:
From the main screen, touch menu tab
Touch Settings
Touch Privacy
Touch Factory Data reset
Touch Reset Phone
Touch Erase Everything
I am certain that a master reset will resolve your issues. Thanks.

A master reset won't fix anything. My wife has had the Fascinate for a year. We've taken three OTA updates since she's had it, and I've done a master reset every time at the advice of VZW. This phone has had the same issues since day one. Each software update has just created more. The original issues that have never gone away include:
1. Terrible battery life.
2. Phone gets hot (I mean very very hot)
3. Phone freezes at least once a day and a battery pull is the only way to correct it. Most days it is numerous times.
4. Phone will randomly reboot itself, and only when you are trying to use it. It doesn't matter what you are doing, using an app, making a call, reading a text. There's no rhyme or reason to it.
5. Laggy. All the time, even when it was fresh out of the box. A master reset when it was a week old took care of that, but once it came back it won't go away.
6. Phone freezes randomly during incoming calls. Won't let you answer, and it just keeps ringing til the battery finally dies or you pull the battery.
Not to mention the problems that came with the updates. GPS not working, Google Maps broken, and the alarm clock issue that has never been resolved. I'm glad this a personal phone and not a business phone. I couldn't imagine trying to run a business dependent on the Fascinate.
I've talked with other Fascinate owners. I've researched the Fascinate problems. Do a Google search for "Samsung Fascinate Problems". I've talked with VZW on numerous occasions and been offered a replacement Fascinate. I refused the replacement, because what's the point? This particular model is obviously junk. Why bother with setting up another Fascinate only to have the same problems? They should just offer a different model and be done with it.
I got a Droid X for myself at the same time she got the Fascinate. Should have just gotten two X's.

Why not offer a different Samsung model? The Samsung Fascinate is crap. They are currently giving away the Samsung Illusion for FREE with a new 2 year activation. Joe Schmoe can walk in off the street and get that phone for nothing, yet someone like myself who has been with VZW for 15 years (when it was GTE Wireless) can only get offered a refurbished Fascinate. There is something wrong with this picture.
