Fascinate Gingerbread Download Failure "Device runs out of memory" code 501

This is the result I get everytime I try to download the latest update 2.3. Internal memory says 1.25 GB, external 1/2 full, I've closed things, pulled the battery and cleared the cache. Any suggestions?

Make sure you have personal data backed up and then hard reset before doing update.....  This is a good ideal to do before a OS upgrade anyway to avoid applications errors.

...and if you actually do the the hard reset, would you be kind enough to post on the poll about whether a hard reset actually helped you or not. If people that come here seeking help would provide feedback on what works or not; it would help those that are yet to ask for help.

Sometimes what work for one doesnt always work for everyone because of the choice of installed apps... 

 

When something works for the user they will mark it as solved and possible give a Kudo to the helpful post so I do not see users posting on two post to verify that it worked...  Besides there is no stickys on the forum so the user would have to search for the poll for what working and I dont see this happing.

I would see to it, it would not go away; is call "bump", so far it is obvious there is no interest in the poll. I was trying to help people who are being told to wipe their phone, that in the majority of the cases it does NOTHING to help, As far as "solved" the majority of those actually solved nothing....I can't make anybody do anything or help anyone else. I am having no problems with both my phones, not doing this for myself.

I have the samsung fascinate and my friemd does too. She updated her software today and mine wont let me. Ive gone to settigs and all my phone says is no new software available.how do i update mine??

I did the hard reset and the download started within minutes. Everything loaded successfully and the phone seems to be working well. Now I just need to find the time to put everything else back the way it was over the next few weeks. The reset was the easy part, Trying to figure out how to back things up was the hard part, I never did get more than my contacts saved.

Thanks for your help. I'm hoping this will be the last time I need to do this.
