Fascinate- Will it eventually be fixed/updated ??

Dear Verizon representative(s),

I own 3 Fascinates.  All 3 are experiencing intermittent missed calls/texts, etc.

I like these phones. A lot.
I do not want a replacement refurbed phone sent to me, at this point.
All 3 are on ED04, the latest verizon froyo release.

None have EVER been tampered or modified in any way.
Since Sept 2010, only updates or changes to phones software has been via Verizon's
official OTAs.

All I want, at this point, is an answer to 2 simple questions:

Is Verizon/Samsung 'actively' working on a fix and/or software update for the Fascinate?

Will that fix along with future fixes be released via an OTA update or even an instore visit?

I am NOT asking for a specific release date(s).

I'm just asking for a COMMITMENT, from Verizon, that owners of the Fascinate have

not been abandoned. I don't think that is too much to ask for at this point.

That's it.

Thank you for your time and prompt response.

The great news is that the ED05 version has been released as of 7/28/11.

Fascinate Update

You can do the update by going to Settings>About Phone>System Updates>Check New

I think it will.  ED05 has leaked and and is being tested free and will probably be put out over the air at some point.  I also think an official Gingerbread will come eventually since one stock leak EC09 has already been out as well.

Again just my opinion.

I  heard the ED05 release will be available OTA within the next 10 days.  If you want to keep you Fascinate wait 2 weeks and if the update isn't here by then I would suggest trying the swap.

Until you realize that Verizon is only interested in your $$$ and that they will be doing nothing to correct the problems with the UN-Fascinate, you will remain "a very unsatisfied customer."  I was told by a friend that is a local Verizon store rep that the problems will not be resolved since the Fascinate will be phased out in the Fall and Big Red is concentrating their efforts on new phones and 4G service.  He said that on any given day, a minimum of 6-8 people come in complaining about the Fascinate and all the problems you described and MANY more.  My wife and I have the UN-Fascinate and loved it until they destroyed the functionality with the Froyo 2.2.  We miss at least 5 calls per day and the calls aren't even showing up in the Call Log.  Our texts sometimes work but for the most part, fail.  We are waiting for AT&T to bring out the iPhone5 next year and then we will be moving our service.  What a dismal shame that a once good company now chooses to ignore it's customer base and post Billion dollar profits.  To answer your question....NO...it will nor be fixed/updated.  They are moving on to all their new phones that won't be obsolete in a few months.  Good luck!

But don't you think you are backwards in your thinking? If Verizon was just interested in your $$$, then the fix would come out quick, make you happy, and keep collecting your $$$. To replace the phones with another model phone costs them money, and I would think would be more expensive in the long run than just issueing the fix. It is not like you are signing another 2 year contract when it is replaced.

 Just my $.02

I also heard all over this forum prior to the Froyo update that we would never get that update either. if the EDO5 update is being tested, there is still hope it will be released. :smileyhappy:

First, thank you for all that have given their opinions. Its appreciated.

But really Verizon, its a simple question that needs answering.

If you do plan on continuing to update, just let us know. I'd like to keep these phones.

If you are no longer going to provide updates to this phone, please let me know that as well and

I'll trade all 3 for some other phone that works  AND   you do plan on supporting !!!

( Note: I believe I read that both Verizon AND Samsung ( along with other carriers and phone companies committed to Google to support Android phones with updates for 18 months after the phones initial release. Fasncinate released 09/2010 so I would

expect updates at least thru end of 2011 if not thru 03/2012. After that I fully understand we will need to fend

for ourselves. And thats fine! )

Thanks.

I really hope they update this soon. Luckily my quirks on the phone are very random so I'm grateful on that part. I'm just worried that with Verizon switching people to the other phones that they will just forget about the Fascinate.
