Are you using the same gmail account? This can cause the issue, since the apps can automatically sync with the Google account. You may want to try a different gmail address.

I tried a solution mentioned on Androidforum.com that worked very well for me. I uninstalled Google Maps. Then used my phone for a few hours with no problems. Then I reinstalled the newest version of Google Maps from the Market and my phone is still working fine (no crashes, much better battery life). Hope this works for you as well.!
