Froyo update causing delayed response to touchscreen

After installing the Android 2.2 update, there is a delayed response to all touchscreen actions -- approximately 5 seconds each time.  Sometimes there is no response when selecting one of the four bottom menu items.  These are new problems after the update.  Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I am having the EXACT same problem with mine...This is the second one of these Fascinate phones that I've had, the first one took a stopped sending calls and texts after 2 weeks...my new one came today...it worked flawlessly, until the phone read "Update Available" which I did...now the phone is near worthless... I think it's time to start looking at other providers...

We have had very few issues with the screen not responding after the software update. For the issues we have had, we performed the following troubleshooting steps in order:

1. Soft reset (remove battery for 10 seconds)

2. Remove third-party applications, then soft reset

3. Factory Reset (Menu > Settings > Privacy)

If you need to do a Factory Reset, please make sure you backup your phones content.

Hope this helps resolve your issue!

Thank you,

I honestly don't see how this is a good fix to a problem.  When your PC runs a little slow the solution is not to just wipe it clean and start over right away.

Your phone is not a PC, however since you made this comment, it is a well known that eventually a complete reinstall of the OS makes your pc run so much faster..

I too have had the same problems and went through support via phone and we did all the resets including factory...so they shipped me a new phone....just received it and it's doing the SAME thing.....it's VERY frustrating and I have heard of three others that have had the same issues since the update. Since I went through everything and even received a new phone...it HAS to be the update!?! I use my phone a ton for work and it's very frustrating when I can't scroll or click on icons!

Sorry for the problems you are all having with your devices since the most recent update. To resolve, please complete the following steps: Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and clear cache and data on Facebook and GMail.

You could also unsync the Facebook account (going into applications and clearing data does the same thing). Afterwards, remove the Facebook or social widget from the screen. You'll still have access to the app, it will just no longer be on your home screen.

Thanks,

I've been to the store three times now. They have done a factory reset twice and it is still having issues. They sent me a new phone and that had issues. On the third trip to the store the Verizon guy (who really dislikes Facebook) said take off basically all the widgets that come on the phone (Buddies Now, News and Feed, Weatherbug Clock, etc.). Okay yes that worked but the real reason I bought the phone was for these things. I love that I don't have to go into Facebook. I'm so FRUSTRATED and HATE my phone now.

These are very unacceptable "fixes". Basically, all Verizon has said is to take off all apps.  That defeats the purpose in buying a smartphone.  It worked 2 weeks ago, then two Fascinates later I realize it was the software update that is killing my phone and my business productivity.

I am being forced to go to TMobile now to get a phone that I can rely upon and use its functions to their intended capacity.
