GPS after DL09 update

The DL09 update improved my email problem (previously it wouldn't download new POP mail without turning phone off and on). I'm thankful about that. But my GPS wasn't too bad before DL09 (not as good as many other phones, but tolerable). Now it takes 5 or more minutes to get a GPS lock outside in a clear area. Around tall buildings I have yet to get a lock.  I have not downloaded the EA28 (or whatever the next update is called), afraid that I'll end up with worse problems. Or has that update fixed anyone's GPS and left email working well??? 

 

That said, I am unable to check for updates--I've tried a few times since DL09 and it tries and tries, finally telling me that the server is unavailable and try again.

I downloaded the EA28 when it came available and the GPS works darn good now so give it a try and hope it works for you.

Thanks for the quick reply...how do I do that if the Check for Updates isn't working though? (I've gotten a "server unavailable" message repeatedly)

Power down & pull the battery, wait 15 seconds & reinsert. Power back up and try it again.  Make sure WiFi is off so the update can come through G3.  I don't believe there are any big issues with the EA28 update either.

My GPS improved dramatically after DL09. However, I now have the EA28 and the GPS is useless. Yesterday on the drive to work it took over 20 minutes to get a lock. Pretty useless if I really needed it. I keep WIFI off, and have VZW Location, Standalone GPS sevice, and Google location service all checked.

try turning off verizon location service.  or maybe it's google services.  One of those may help.

Nope, still didn't find updates. Tried pulling battery. Even did *228 to see if that would help it find the server. Also, I think gps will lock IF I have other location services turned on. I need to try a few more times to test this. If just gps turned on, it was 20+ minutes and no lock even on open highway. This wasn't a problem till DL09. Also, my phone could find the update server before DL09.

I will start a new thread about the update problem. Also, I now have the problems--just since DL09--that when first typing it leaves off first letter, and does double caps.So DL09 gave me some problems that I didn't have before, though it did solve my email problem.

I would take your phone to a Verizon store and have them try to load the update. My original Fascinate that I ordered online from the Verizon Wireless Website was bad, it would not receive updates giving me the same error message you are getting. There was a batch of Fascinates that were bad, and they could tell you if yours is 1 of them.
