So I've had my nexus for over a month, and I've absolutely loved it. I haven't had any issues with it at all*knock on wood* But I noticed on the forums that the Nexus has been buggy with reboots, reception and data connectivity. Have things gotten better on this phone? I ask this because I have some friends who are thinking of switching to the nexus but are weary of some of the forum posts.

Forums for the most part you will see more complaints than praise. You should see the Apple forums about their iPhone...

My device works great and I have had both versions since they debuted. A few of my coworkers just got the LTE version and I have not heard them complain much other than problems with femtocells(it is an ISP problem here in Hawaii upload speeds are capped and latency is high, but for $25 more the cap is raised, but the latency still sucks).

I've had my Galaxy Nexus since launch day and I have no complaints.... Yeah I wished it came with a Micro-SD card slot and Mass Storage Mode but that's okay considering all the other features I'm gaining. Majority of the complaints are growing pains more-so than real issues. So until other phones come out with ICS loaded (or updated) to change my opinion I truly believe  this is the best phone on the market by far....

so without mass storage, you can't use a usb to transfer pics/music/docs from computer to phone?

You can, but it's not as fast transferring as other phones using mass storage ....

It has MTP or PTP mode for USB transfers. I haven't used it yet and still I have my ringtones, music and some pictures on the Nexus.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

MTP transfer protocol is what you use to transfer files/pictures/music etc. The only problem that you will see is if a program relies on USB Mass Storage for syncing or need a drive letter for a sync operation. The developers will need to change how they do things to compensate for the difference.

It shows up as Galaxy Nexus where you can still transfer files, and you can still use the space while it is "mounted" on your phone. You can also just unplug the Nexus without having to "safely" remove it. Just unplug it.

I got my Galaxy Nexus in Jan of this year.  I've always been an early adopter and have paid way too much for the pleasure of getting phones early and sometime even without being eligible for an upgrade.  This time, I showed great restraint by waiting a couple months after it was released.  My experience with Verizon and this phone has been horrendous.

I've had the problems with the calls seeming to mute in mid call.  The only way to remedy that was to reboot the phone.  So, I'd taken to warning the other party at the start of a call that this might happen and that I'd have to call them back after a reboot.  I took to calling it a great phone...if you didn't need to use it as a phone.  I waited for the software upgrade from a few weeks ago thinking that that would fix the problem.  No dice.

I finally got so sick of this happening that I called Verizon for help a couple of weeks ago.  They got me to tech support, who immediately noted that this was a "known problem" and that they'd send out a new phone that should fix things.  Great!  That phone had a problem with the screen not sensing touch on the sides.  Didn't have it long enough to see if it worked...as a phone.

I'm now on the next replacement.  Same problem. It's the Pinocchio of phones--it wants to be a real phone.

I called Verizon again.  They offered to send another, but they admitted that it would probably have the same problem.  They recommended that I call Samsung.  Samsung offered to have me send in the phone and they would "fix" the problem and send it back.  Problem is that I've been getting "fixed" phones from the manufacturer as replacements.  They aren't fixed.

So here I am, a  four or five year customer with five lines, that has a phone that isn't a phone.

Bottom line, tell your friend that if they want a really expensive texting device, then they should go for it.  If they want a phone that works, they should look somewhere else.
