I am beyond irritated that as the flagship of exactly one year, Verizon continues to provide less than vague answers as to when we will be receiving this update. I used to laugh at Sprint as a provider and swore that I'd never consider AT&T again as an option. However, I have been awaiting Android 5.1.1 since June this year and have watched carries such as Spring and AT&T release 5.1.1 to their customers. At this point, considering I pay about $125/month, I have been investigating other carriers and their service records and can honestly say, I am considering paying the fee to break my contract with Verizon to receive support and tech that keeps current. In my estimation, Verizon should be offering credit to those of us that have been waiting months to receive this update to our [removed] devices which haven't worked properly since 5.0.1 was released. I've been a customer with Verizon for 10+ years and can honestly say I have never been so disappointed with the service or lack thereof. Get with it Verizon. Stop treating your customers, whom are probably paying the highest bills based on the handset of their choice, like second rate piles of [removed].
I'm rather curious how much time and money was spent on Verizon creating their fancy new logo - perhaps the developers, designers and others on that team should have focused their energy on testing and releasing the update for their note 4 customers.
VERIZON FAIL!!!!!

I attempted to get *all* forms of Verizon on twitter to talk, yet not a single word back, and I've tried multiple times, yet all of your competitors responded within minutes. Kinda sad.
And course my issues are related to the update - 34 pages in, I've exhausted myself saying everything that both Samsung and Verizon suggest to 'fix' the issues don't work - myself, and many others, need an update. It's not about being excited, it's not about wanting the newest thing, we want working hardware - yes, we know that the update isn't a miracle fix, but at this point it would be better than a phone used for both work and personal use overheating to the point you can't hold it while it sits idle, or simply using the dialer.
On top of that, I need to ask this, and while I know it will be avoided, I have to try - Are we, or are we not, actually getting 5.1.1? Because I've yet to actually hear that we are, and while reading the Galaxy Note 4 subreddit today, there appeared to be a Verizon member mentioned that his Samsung rep said that the Note 4 is *not* getting 5.1.1, and instead going straight to 6.0, which of course would be many, many more months, which is completely insane on top of the many months we have *already* waited just to get working hardware.
At the end of the day, whether it's Verizon coming up with reasons why, blaming someone else, or users here or on the other areas of the internet posting articles about who came out with what, and when, the fact stands that Verizon is the last carrier to even attempt to start getting 5.1.1 to it's large number of users, who desperately need it. Common sense will indicate that it is well past Samsung's hands, and that I'm sure the other carries are extremely happy since this is forcing a lot of people, not just Note 4 users, into their hands.

I went back and forth with Samsung Support on Facebook for 2 days over the holiday weekend. The end result, they state it's completely out of their hands. Samsung's work on 5.1.1 w.r.t. Verizon was done, and handed off. What I was told is this. "While updates are from initially from Samsung, they are pushed out by the carrier after they reviewed & have apps/info added to them." While this is from Samsung support, it's very interesting that they even went as far to say that. In the end, I decided to stay with Android and my 6P arrives tomorrow. I've got to have a functional phone.

I have tried to contact @VZWSupport on Twitter about 10 times over the course of a month, and it almost seems like you guys are doing everything possible to ignore any question harder than, "where can I get service?" Your Twitter support is useless, and your online chat service is completely indirect and no one seems capable of saying "I don't know." Your responses here are almost just as bad, but I can see that you're at least trying, for the most part. Your phone support is just terrible, and the solution there seems to be "we can't help you so we'll give you a GB of promotional data." We already have 10GB per month, but it doesn't matter if it goes up to 20GB with promotional data. Two of us still can't use it because our phones die after 3 hours of screen on time, and I know I'm usually a pretty major user of data, since the WiFi where I am is terrible. We now know for sure that Samsung has given the update to Verizon. Is there some sort of Verizon Wireless corporate number, or do we need to annoy the parent company to get our issues noticed?

I posted the corporate number earlier. It's public information:
Verizon Corporate Office Headquarters HQ
Address:
140 West Street
New York, NY 10007
Corporate Phone Number: 1-212-395-1000
Corporate Fax Number: 1-212-571-1897
Corporate Email: n/a
Corporate Stock Symbol: VZ

I saw that, but I also saw it was Verizon Corporate, not Verizon Wireless. I know Verizon now wholly owns VZW, but they still might not take the request.

They can get you to the right place...tell them you want to place a formal
complaint and they'll listen.

Will do. We should all coordinate and call them at the same time with the same exact complaint (word for word). They'd freak out .

So many replacements and having the same issue sounds like we have a software or an app issue here. Let’s get to the bottom of this for you and see how we can get your phones running smoothly. Could you please go to settings, then battery, and see what is in the list? This will tell you what is making the phone run so much, and even help with the temperature. The warmth you are feeling from the phone is a normal reaction of the device when it is working, but we can check a few things there too. Once we know what is making the phone run, we can work on closing what we do not need, or is not being used. Let us know what you find, and we can see what steps we need to take from here. We look forward to getting this resolved and working for you all in no time.

They can't fix it. The note 4 should've been updated to 5.1.1 update and
followed by 6.0 update the problem is that Verizon has lost a lot of
customers and we have lost respect for Verizon do to the lack of
communication. So verizon you say that you are the biggest cell phone
carrier out there. Keep doing what you have been doing and you will be the
3rd biggest cell phone company because you are going to keep losing good
honest paying customers that have been with you for years so remember this
its the customers that makes the company what it is today.

I just went to the Verizon store.....they put my phone in safe mode and we
it was jittery, battery went down 5% in 2 minutes, and the gyroscope went
haywire, they are attributing it to a hardware problem. They are replacing
my phone with another note 4.
I asked what happens when I get the new phone and it does the same thing?
They want me to run it stock for a couple days, if I have problems still to
come back in and we will explore other options.
We shall see...

Or a developer edition. I think I may have just thought of an idea, assuming you can still get the dev edition from VZW.

I chatted with VZW today and they told me to do another factory reset but uncheck the Automatic Restore box. I don't want to go through that hot mess unless none of you have tried that. Then he told me I can buy an iPhone 6s Plus from Apple and register it with Verizon as an option. He had no info on 5.1.1. He said I was running with only 10% RAM remaining and that seemed odd. I get longer life from an Anker 6440 battery but still about half what I should. Usage:
Android System 27.5%
Cloud 14.1%
Android OS 12.0%
etc etc.
Removed Facebook Messenger and a few bloatware apps. Seems to have helped a tiny bit. Still having shaky WIfi and occasional app autoterminations. Battery life not good.

Compared to my Galaxy S4, the OS power consumption seems high. I'm seeing 4% for 5.0.1. My battery drain comes from running the display at maximum brightness...14%.
I have battery saver activated and noticed an option to block the CPU from running full throttle is on by default.

I did what you asked, the app that is using the MOST battery is the Android
System followed by Android OS.
What suggestions OTHER than a software update that fixes the issues do you
have? I get the same results on a factory reset! I am going to a
corporate store tomorrow and demanding a new phone, I pay over $200 a month
for this crap. They will get me a new device or they can keep this one!

Typical lineup (I've looked at it multiple times in the past year):
Android System = 20%
Android OS ==== 11%
Screen ======= 2%
VZ Cloud ===== 1%
Everything else is either 1% or less, as I literally can't use my phone. It dies in less than 12 hours if I don't charge it.
Judging from the three people who also posted pretty much the exact same results, I'm going to take a wild guess and say that maybe, maybe, it's actually the fault of the OS.
