Galaxy Note 5 / Samsung Pay Omission / Class Action Lawsuit

I have a  long story to tell but I will keep it short. I have been with Verizon for going on 9 years and am reasonable for 29 very data heavy lines (and growing by the week).  Today is the day that broke the camels back. From my understanding, Verizon will not be partnering with/offering Samsung Pay; one of the main reasons I bought my Note 5. I have put up with them taking away features from my $700-900 phones for the last time. Do we live in North Korea or something? What financial benefit does this have for them? Are they coming to try to force us to use one of their subpar pos products again? ISIS/Softcard worked out well, huh? .. If by the official launch day I do not hear that Verizon will br offering Samsung Pay, I plan on returning my Note 5, terminate every single line at whatever cost, contacting the BBB,  and filing a Class Action Lawsuit in the coming months. If Verizon wants to take away key features in our flagship devices, their phones and plans should be at a discount; not a premium. Although successfully executing all of those actions will likely result in NOTHING (and cost me lots of time and money), I can't live with myself not doing anything. A company like this is the definition of a BULLY.  I hate bullys.

Thanks Verizon.

UH, you can return the phone within 14 days.

You can cancel all your lines and switch carriers.

YOu can contact the BBB, with what complaint, I do not know.  Verizon, or any carrier doesn't have to permit Samsung Pay, or even sell Samsung phones.

FIle a class action suit?  Not a chance.  Verizon hasn't supported or allowed FM radio.  They have that right.

IF they do, or don't allow Samsung pay isn't grounds for a suit.

ITs plenty reason to be angry.

I would have to disagree.

With the changes in how we purchase equipment from Verizon, I would think they should no longer have the right to decide what features are included or not included.

Verizon is asking to pay the full retail cost of the device and nothing is coming out of Verizon's pocket as far as subsidies or cost.

If we are essentially buying the device from Samsung through Verizon as a middleman, then the device should come unencumbered with all the stated features & abilities that Samsung's website says the phone "SHOULD" have.

You said it right there....buy from Verizon.

That's shouldn't matter.

If you buy the Verizon branded phone directly from Samsung off the Samsung website, you still don't have the feature.

If Verizon was subsidizing the cost of the phone on a 2 year contract then I would agree that they have the right to push their crapware and eliminate features, but as I said that's not true anymore.

I just filed and FCC complaint.

That is because Samsung CANNOT sell a device with the Verizon name on it WITHOUT Verizon's permission. If the phone has features on it which Verizon doesn't want, they can't sell it.

The converse is ALSO true. Verizon cannot sell a device with Samsung's name on it without Samsung's approval. The fact the device does not have the feature you want just means Verizon is selling it with Samsung's approval.

Of course, I am sure Samsung believes Verizon will approve Samsung Pay.

Of course Verizon has the right to decide what it is willing to sell. If they are unwilling to sell the phone as Samsung has designed it, they can ASK Samsung to provide a device they are willing to sell. Whether or not Samsung capitulates is completely up to Samsung. The fact Samsung has no backbone to only offer the phone with the features they see fit allows Verizon to do what they are doing. Verizon can sell what they want. If Samsung is willing to change the device as Verizon wants it, this will continue. You should be complaining to Samsung, not Verizon. If Samsung stood their ground, Verizon would sell it as is or go without.

Add me to your suit. If they were not going to support it... Verizon should have been forth coming with this news before people started purchasing the product. It was hard for me to choose between the iPhone and Samsung. I decided to go with Samsung because of Samsung Pay. I certainly feel as though I was mislead as a consumer.

You can still return the phone.

You can't sue a carrier for features NOT advertised as being NOT included.  If Verizon advertised it as such and omitted the feature, then you'd have grounds for fussing.  What the manufacturer advertises vs what the carrier advertises has always been a hot issue.

Your understanding is incorrect. Verizon is still evaluating Samsung Pay and the fact it is STILL not available for OVER ANOTHER MONTH, they have plenty of time to determine if they will be partnering with/offering Samsung Pay.

Yes, you are correct it is not available for another month. However, regardless of the language Verizon chooses to use for it they currently are not supporting Samsung pay while all other major carriers are. That is troubling. I have been a Verizon customer for a little over a week but I am already making plans to leave if there isn't support for Samsung pay at launch.

Just because the other carriers offer it doesn't mean merchants must accept it.

Yes, other carriers have stated they will support it once it is available, however they obviously cannot support something which is currently unavailable.

It is quite possible Verizon will support it as soon as it is available, just like the other carriers.

The BBB is likely not the right avenue, although you would likely receive a response in 6 months, by which time VZW should be done evaluating. I've read a majority of the posts here, and most seem to say that they believe VZW has the right to block or inhibit applications or features because they have the VZW logo on it. This isn't exactly the case, and when Samsung Pay is officially launched on Sep 28th, I suspect VZW will make a statement on their support or lack of support for it.

Blocking applications and network access to Samsung Pay may be a violation of Net Neutrality Laws, and when Samsung Pay officially launches on the 28th, and it's not available to you - the consumer - File a complaint with the FCC-
