Ever since the update for my Galaxy Note Edge, it randomly locks up then restarts it's self. Once it comes back up it prompts me to put in my password instead of my finger print. I was hoping I was not the only one experiencing this issue. Hopefully there is a follow up update that will resolve some of these issues.

Security is always at the forefront of our business model TayheeInc1.The developers of the operating system has made the pass code an initial requirement to unlock the device before the fingerprint can be used to unlock the device upon boot up. This is a protocol that can not be disabled unless the fingerprint and pass code function is disabled entirely. How long does the device sit idle before it locks up? Can we assume that you have your personal information bcked up on either your Gmail account or your Verizon Cloud account?

No trends really. The only habitual things are work email, personal email, text, calls, some games and social media....aside from uninstalling and re-installing my commonly used apps multiple times to try to figure this out. Phone doesn't actually reboot/restart, just lags in the middle of whatever, then does the lockscreen [Removed]. It has happened four times today already; once while typing this out.

Thanks for filling me in, TonyStarkMK42. I see you already did a ton of great steps but have you had the opportunity to run a Health Check on your phone using the steps at http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-201171/ yet? Also, while you’re experiencing the sluggishness please check the available memory using the steps at http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-136671/ and let me know what it shows for the available memory.

No problem. But let me stop ya right there... I may have not said it here on the recent posts, but I'm a tech guy in a technical job in a tech world. I work with computers all day and I've used and tinkered with Android since the early days of Open Source. I've rooted many a device, including this once previously (back to stock for update). I have never suffered an error due to rooting and it has actually helped my devices with bloatware and performance.
With that being said, there are several errors in the coding from VZW. 1) The "time_out" error line that seems to be causing the "security lock screen device restart" issue without actually rebooting the device. It shows up randomly throughout the code and seems to trigger without rhyme or reason and seems to think a background process stopping is the device restarting. 2) Night clock is set to trigger ONLY on 24H format; which means 12H and 12H with alarm with not allow "Night Clock" to show otherwise. 3) WiFi calling was listed in initial VZW advertising of Marshmallow update for Note Edge on the site as well as the phone pop-up of update ready to download. After all the update fail issues, site was changed, pop-up was changed, and it's in the coding as "disabled". I'm sorry, but if my GF's Galaxy S5 can do it, and the Note Edge that debuted later is more current and powerful, you better believe it should be able to do it as well. Those three issues are unacceptable for a mass release. The lock screen issue makes the phone unusable at times as it locks up and then throws a first time boot up screen in your face when your phone hasn't actually restarted. It would suck to have to try to use it in an emergency and that happens. I would hope the techs at Verizon would be more advanced in the field than I and would thoroughly test and look for any anomalies in coding. I'm clearly not the only one with these concerns. They need to be fixed in a more timely manner.
And please, before you respond...don't give me a scripted answer. I understand you're following procedure, but it's extremely unhelpful as the many forums here have proven. "Oh my.. Sorry... Have you..." and stating the obvious are all very, very unacceptable. Pass this along to the higher ups who should be reading this.
And yes, I've used the Verizon tools like the device health checker nonsense... They are all a waste of time, just like responses here that mean nothing and talk in loops.

I would expect any new device I purchase to run beautifully, TonyStarkMK42. It's important that your device do everything that you need it to and more. You're very tech savvy, and if this issue is plaguing you, it's definitely a serious one. What I can do is lift up your feedback to our technical advisors who work in tandem with the manufacturer.

I have followed every suggestion on this forum and nothing as helped. My phone is still constantly rebooting after upgrading to Marshmallow.
I did the entire device reset and cache reset multiple times.
what I have seen now is that the reboots occur after the phone comes out of sleep or the display comes back on. Usually what happens is that the phone is unresponsive after sleep and then it will reboot.
One time before a reboot it was very sluggish and these messages popped up that "process system isn't responding" and "touchwiz isn't responding"
I have powersave disabled but security policy maintains that I must allow for the display to timeout and turn off but marshmallow puts the phone to sleep anyway. Part of Marshmallow is a new "Doze" feature that hibernates the phone to increase battery life. These new features are obviously not compatible with Samsung/Verizon apps running on the Note Edge. The applications cant come out of powersave correctly.
Please help!! if you can. I don't want to move over to apple. My phone used to be perfect until the updates this year.Lollipop was a great release but then Marshmallow has been a nightmare to say the least. I had two options "Install Now" or "Install Later" and I kept receiving a reminder to upgrade and one day I did it. So please pass on that we need an another update to help with these issues ASAP.

I provide this info to help those who like their Note Edge but they are still having trouble with the Marshmallow update.
Of course like yourself I was told to reset my phone and clear the cache and none of this worked. My phone kept rebooting over and over again.
Well I saw on Friday that my phone reported that Touchwiz wasn't responding and then there would be a reboot. Usually this occurred after coming out of a "doze". My phone reboot itself multiple times a day, sometimes the reboot would occur for no reason. Most of the time the reboots occurred trying to login into the phone.
So I looked around and tried to see if I could take away some features of Touchwiz. I found that I certainly could not disable Touchwiz altogether however I tried to see if disabling "animation" could help. And disabling Animation absolutely has resolved my reboot issue.
To do this I went into Developer Options and disabled animation. The default is to use a rate of "1x". I shut it off and my phone has not reboot even one time. To get into developer mode, hit the build number under settings multiple times and you will get 'Developer Options'. To get to the build number, open the Settings screen, scroll down to the bottom, and tap About phone
Now I wanted to see if this was really the resolution so I enabled animation and my phone reboot again within 15 minutes.
Below is a screenshot of the developer options where I disabled Animation. The phone does not look as pretty with animation off but it is better than having the phone reboot constantly. Good luck!

As said the phone now requires a password on reboot, and this includes if the system reboots partway from a crash.
My experience and based on reading. Samsung turned off Adaptable memory because it doesn't work on their phones. Not sure if it works well on any phone, I haven't read that far. I know it doesn't work on my Edge. The story they made up was that they thought users would rather use SD cards to move files. Bull.. Adaptable memory on recent Samsung's, even with their fast cards is a nightmare in 6.0
I had random reboots and lock ups.
1) Don't find the command line fixes to make your phone uses adaptable memory. IT will be a nightmare
2) Don't move any apps to the SD card, it will be a nightmare
3) Take out the SD card and Factory reset the phone.
I had tried the other two and even after formatting the SD back to normal usage and moving all the Apps back to main memory etc. The phone was unstable.
Since I removed the SD card that helped, but the phone was still unstable especially when coming out "sleep" in the morning it would reset multiple times.
So this week I did a full factory reset. Reinstalled all my apps etc. NEVER put the SD card back and it has been very stable. And no weird stall outs. Marshmallow and or Samsung previous generation phones have issues with the RAM management from what I can find. I am more and more counting on cloud for music etc. So actually still have over 13GB free when phone is configured. No need for SD card so at this point will not even risk putting it back.

We understand the importance of keeping your device up to date Hooligan3. Let's see what we need to do to get this resolved. When did this issue begin? Do you have your device plugged in to the charger and connected to WiFi when attempting the update?

@Hooligan3... It should pop up as a notification when ready. Until then, you can check under Settings, scroll to System Updates and have a look. If not, be patient, these things roll out in waves.

Thanks, I was able to get the update. Just had to turn off my phone, and remove the SIM card for a few seconds.
Verizon support, you all have seen the numerous documented messages regarding the reboot issues since Marshmallow came out. Please stop with your scripted requests for more info, and let people know if a fix is being worked on. The newest update fixed the Night Clock issue, which is great, but the reboots are still quite annoying.
