I recently did a rotation in South Korea and while I was there I bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 from Olleh KT who said the phone was unlocked and would work with any carrier in the states. When I got home I went down to the local Verizon Carrier and asked if I could get my phone switched over to their services, as i've used them in the past, and they told me I would need to most likely get my phone flashed. Is this the only solution, as there is no company around that flashes phone, or is there an alterante solution. I would really like to be able to use my good phone again in the states with verizon preferably.

It won’t work on Verizon as it doesn’t have the required LTE bands.
Which model number is it?
The models ending in S, K and L for Korea will not work well in the USA.
The G950F would work on T-mo or At&t.
The model ending in U made for the USA would convert between carriers in the USA. I don’t think your Korean model has that option.

Unlocked does not translate to will work with all carriers. If the phone doesn't have the band needed for your carrier of choice, it won't work.
