Google Voice on Galaxy Nexus Native Google Experience? I don't think so

Trying to setup google voice as my primary phone, text and voicemail is frustrating and possibly impossible.  Can anyone help?

Here are some posts from Google Voice Help

Do you already have Google Voice (Y/N)? Yes I was using Google Voice number ported to sprint
If so, do you have a Google number (Y/N)?  Yes had prior to Sprint Verizon Ported

For Mobile apps, what device and carrier are you using? Google Voice

So the phone worked fine for the first few hours.

1. Logged into Google Voice and removed the sprint connection
2. Uninstalled Google voice from phone
3. Turned off  Phone

4. Removed Battery

5. Verified phone on Google Voice Account

Still can't text or recieve texts

Cant setup voicemail

This has NOTHING to do with Verizon WHATSOEVER.

First off Google Voice integration is EXCLUSIVE to Sprint.  Meaning NO CARRIER in the US can do this.

Sprint - This is from Sprint

Google - This is from Google

You have to be a Sprint customer...

When you ported over your number you lost your Google/Sprint  number if you inegrated them.  You will have to get a new number to get them to work again...

Your number is now associated with Verizon message system and not Googles/Sprint.

The Sales Rep in the store told me it would work.  They ported my google voice/sprint number over to Verizon and it worked fine.  I could make and recive calls and texts.

The problem was that the full functionality was gone.  Google Voicemail and Text features were gone.   Trying to port my number to google now to see what happens.

It is entirely a Verizon issue.  Verizon has not allowed the Google wallet and does not officially support texting from google voice at all.

What is the solution?  The Google Nexus should be a pure google experience.

That's because the number is no longer tied to google voice.  This has nothing to do with a "Google Experience Device".  Sprint is the ONLY carrier that offers Google Voice integration with your actual phone number without the need to get another number from Google Voice.  You'll need to request another google voice number, install the google voice app and set up no answer call forwarding to your new google voice number.

People have the largest MISCONCEPTION of what a pure Google Experience device is...

I wish other carriers offered the google voice integration I enjoy with Sprint, it is fantastic. It *IS* Sprint-only though, on every other carrier you have to have a separate GV number and "real" phone number.

First off Google Voice does integrate with Verizon.  Not the same way Sprint does but it works.  Especially if you use an Android.  I set it up for a friend on the Galaxy Nexus, so I know it works for a fact.  And I utilized in on my AT&T blackberries.  The only thing that makes the integration different is that you setup your Verizon phone number on your Google Voice account and it will forward calls that come to your Google Voice to your Verizon device.  You can access vm and sms as well.  You just need to set up your number on your GV account as I said and then install the Google Voice App on your mobile device (from which you can set your preferences).

Now here is my issue I'm having hopefully someone can help.

This is so frustrating because I set up a friends Galaxy Nexus and it worked fine.  The only difference was on the other Galaxy Nexus we didn't install GV on the mobile yet.  Setup the call forwarding on GV from the computer first.  Please Help ASAP this is EXTREMELY frustrating!

I'm a long time Google Voice user, first time I'm having issue verifying a device and this one is the Galaxy Nexus! Google Voice works (sms) on my Galaxy Nexus however calls to my Google Voice number do not ring on my Galaxy Nexus.  From the computer I try to verify the Galaxy Nexus but it never rings when called with GVoice number. Only the Verizon number rings.  I've tried uninstalling Google Voice on GN and verify from computer first but it doesn't work.  What I have noticed is from Gvoice on the computer it automatically assumes my GN is a "Gizmo" vs. a "mobile" (not sure if that means anything).

Additional Attempted Solutions:

Temporary call forwarding - This didn't work.  I dialed from the number and had it added to temporary call forwarding.  But when I tried calling my GV number the mobile  (Verizon Galaxy Nexus) never rang.  I also checked on GV on the computer and the phone shows up again as a "gizmo" and says it must be verified, when I click "verify now" it keeps trying to connect but my mobile never rings.

Use Different Computers and Internet providers and mobile on different towers - This didn't work.

Call Screening was always set to OFF - This didn't work.

Anything else I can do?

I think you are mistaken.  There is no integration period.  All GV does is forward calls from a Google number to your number.  The intergration IS what Sprint and Google does.  It's 1 number and there is no "Google" number, and everything goes through that number as if it was a regular phone.

Now here is my issue I'm having hopefully someone can help.

Did you give GV access to your account when it first asked you?  If not then it will not work.  You need App engine access for it to work.

To change everything you NEED to go online and adjust the settings.

In the upper right corner hit the gear and Voice settings.

In the forward calls to hit edit.

Pick a name or leave it the way it is.

put in your number +1234567890

pick phone type : Mobile(This is where Gizmo comes from in this setting)

Where it says carrier tap the check operator and it will change to Verizon.

That should get your forwarding going.

Tidbits - Thats right, you can't have one number like on Sprint but you can do all the forwarding.

Thanks for trying to help but thats what I meant.  Event though I select "mobile" it keeps auto changing it to "gizmo".  And the carrier option is available to me.  I have an AT&T phone linked with a separate number and it does allow me to pick carrier etc.  The issue is for some reason the Verizon number is not.

I'll try posting elsewhere and the other links you suggested we'll see what happens.
