Despite my number being on all of the no-call lists, I still receive plenty of spam text messages each day and every one requests a read receipt. Even if I do not open up the text and go straight to delete it, I'm still propted with a read receipt.
The only option I have is to enable read receipts for messages I send but nothing for messages I receive.
As I said, this is from spam texts and I'm sure used as a way for the spam companies to know which numbers are active to contiue to spam.
the sender adds the read reciept, nothing you can do about it.
