I cannot get into voicemail. When I go to voicemail it says welcometo visual voicemail and wants me to continue for a $2.99 fee per month.
Where is my regular voicemail?

I took Ann's advice and called *611. They told me VM had been updated and the only way to access basic was to dial *86 on my phone pad an enter my code. I did that & was able to retrieve my messages. The voicemail app on my phone only takes me to visual voicemail. When I finally retrieved my messages one of them was from verizon saying I had a trial period for visual VM. So I guess I'm good to go for now. Thank you all for your help.

That is for premium visual voice mail. Stay with basic and there is no charge.

It sounds like you're seeing a notice of the charge for "premium" visual voicemail, but "basic" visual voicemail is free. When you open the voicemail app, it should describe both basic and visual voicemail with an Accept button. Then, after that, it should ask if you want to use premium or the free trial of it, which you can decline. if you pick the wrong choice at any point, once you're in the voicemail app, you can press the three dots on the top-right, and then select the option to end the free trial, or to subscribe/unsubscribe from premium visual voicemail, though you will still be able to use basic visual voicemail. I hope that explained things clearly!

It doesn't give me an option. It says welcome to visual voice mail and wants me to continue to start using.
How do I get back to regular VM. Should I delete the VM app?

If you just want the basic non-visual voicemail, you should call customer service at 1-800-922-0204 from a landline or *611 from your phone and request they add the Block Visual Voicemail feature to your line.

Can you post a screen shot? It is likely you are simply overlooking the choice to continue with Basic Visual Voicemail.

Sounds to me as if the premium visual voicemail trial just expired and it is now going to charge to continue to use.
If wanting to use the free visual voicemail do what Ann154 stated and contact customer service, but don't have them add the block visual voicemail feature as this will block the premium and the basic visual voicemail.... Do have them add the basic visual voicemail which will remove the premium version though and you are all set.

Ann said to add the block if they wanted to use basic voicemail, not basic visual voicemail.

I finally cracked this after multiple attempts: There are 2 levels of visual voice mail: Basic & Premium. Basic is free. You DO NOT have to dial *86 & enter a code for free access to voicemail. I have always had Basic visual voicemail, so when the first screen that opened today while trying to access my voicemail asked me to sign up for Visual Voicemail again, I was a little confused. It literally took opening this screen multiple times (at least 5), clicking on "continue", & clicking "accept" BEFORE the phone FINALLY gave me the screen with the option to sign on for Premium or choose "No Thanks". Why this screen did not appear the first 4 times I clicked "Accept" is a mystery to both me & the Verizon reps I spoke to...but don't give up! You do NOT need to use dial-up voicemail, BASIC visual is still free!!!

There is a block feature for blocking premium visual voicemail available to the customer under their block services section of their MyVerizon account online. If the customer doesn't want to be asked to subscribe to the premium visual voicemail but keep the basic visual voicemail, then that is the option to choose.

Tigs8664,
Thank you for reaching out. The Voicemail options can vary depending on your phone. Some phones will come with Basic Visual Voicemail at no charge. Here are the details https://www.verizon.com/support/voice-mail-faqs/ on Voicemail.
