How move Apps button off the home screen?

The "Apps" button is locked on the home screen and cannot be moved like all the other buttons.  It takes up precious space as one of the fixed icons at the bottom of the home screen.  I never use the apps icons and would like to remove it and replace it with something I frequently use.  How can I move the Apps button to replace it with something else more functional?

That's a great question Rkruz. I can understand wanting to have as much space available on the phone as possible. I have had to delete some applications off of my phone to free up space. I wanted to make sure I am on the same page with you, can you tell me if you are referring to a specific application or removing the Playstore button? If you are referring to removing an application, please click http://spr.ly/6584DgQuO . Does this help

Sounds like not on same page. Its the "app" button that is fixed in the lower right corner on home screen. Its in the group of 5 buttons thay stay at the bottom of the display no matter waht page is selected.  I cannot move it as i can tbe other 4 buttons that are also at the bottom of the screen.  I would lime to replace it with a useful button.  Can i do that?  Thx

rkruz, I apologize for the confusion in regard to what you meant for the placement of your apps shortcut icon. Thank you for providing us with the screenshot as this helps clarify completely what you would like to do. As jrh4054 mentioned, moving this app from the shortcut dock is impossible and is set by the manufacturer with the current software version. The reason why this icon cannot be moved is this is where you will need to go in order to access the applications on your device.

VeronicaM_VZW, did you not read Rkdruz's message?  It has nothing to do with creating more space on the phone or moving apps. It was about making more space on the home page.

please see the screen shot.  The Apps icon or button on the bottom right cannot be moved.   The other 4 buttons to the left of it can be moved.  I dont use the App but.  Its useless.  The space would be better used for a frequently accessed button like the 4 to the left of it.  I would like to move it and replace it with something usefull and frequently used.   How can I do this?phone home page.jpg

Unfortunately, it looks like the Apps shortcut can't be moved from this position.  I tried moving it on my S7 and couldn't.

Why cant it be moved?. What is the logic that it cant be moved?. Is it a bug in the software that is being worked? Is the a software update expected that will fix this issue?

These are questions you need to ask Samsung.

This behavoiur is only on verizon.  Other carriers s7 allow the movement of button so I am asking verizon.  Are you a rep of verizon?  Who can i ask to clear up this bug or get knowlwdgeable response?

Have you tried a different launcher other than touchwiz?

no. Im afraid to mess with the phone too much. Is that part of the operating system? Scary for me to mess with something like that.

Google launchers for Android and get a ton of info about it.  It just allows you to customize how you want the phone to look and operate. If you don't like it delete it like you would an App or you can go back to your default launcher Touchwiz. Nova Launcher is one of the more popular ones.
