What do we want Froyo for? Flash, 2.2 only apps, improved stability, access to the audio port on my desk cradle, possible video enabling, etc... Does it need to be said? Come on people. VZW reps do promise this and we deseve it. We purchased in good faith, VZW needs to step up or lose customers.

After my experince with this phone and the Android OS, I would be happy to move to iPhone...and I never wanted the iPhone because of it's closed nature. Quality and stability are losing me with Android.

..and why can't I mount this device on my Mac anymore? What kind of game is that? The only Android phone that doesn't mount natively to a Mac.

The Eris is an entry-level phone and took 6 months to receive a software update.
The Fascinate is a high-end phone. How long did it take for the other high-end Androids to get an update? (Keep in mind Froyo was released in July 2010) The Motorola Droid got flash-capable Froyo on 8/27/2010, The Incredible got Froyo on 8/27/2010, the X got Froyo on 9/22/2010.
So the Fascinate came out after a 4-month old phone and an 8-month old phone had already received the update, and 2 months after Froyo was released, and the Droid X got Froyo 2 months after it's release.
THOSE are fair, apples-to-apples comparisons of upgrade times, and the amount of time it has taken for the Samsung phone to get Froyo, as compared to all of it's contemporaries, is INSANE and RIDICULOUS.
And that's why *I* will never again buy a Samsung smartphone.

M91-30, what you're failing to understand with your Eris->Fascinate comparison EVERY time you make it is that you're comparing apples and oranges.

Hows this for a apples to grape fruit comparsion? The Fascinate sucks in terms of sales, lacks the camera of the X, only comes with 2.1 (which is currently the standard for the androids) Which you can have to go to the dentist to get an update. I am personally an HTC person but like motorola too. last sammie I owned was a flippie.
I would say for everyone quite griping about it because odds are you won;t get the update, its going to end up like the Eris or the other droids phones that where placed on the back burner for what ever reason. They will just keep saying " please be patient we will have your update to you shortly" just to keep you from using the "loyalty" card even though it probably wouldn't work anyways.
For the recored flash isn't so great on a mobile phone. ( mobile web on a phone isn't so great period its just better on some then on others.) But you know kids and their gadgets. But this will play out like most things do. People will complain VZW will give you something free and you will be happy for a little while until something else happens or until you get sick of the current issues that plague you again,.

I'd say sales went well considering it was released after both the Droid X and Incredible which had the DROID branding and marketing. Not to mention, look at how well the Galaxy S line of phones sold in the US and around the world. As far as camera, MP's don't mean everything and neither of them are replacements for a standalone point and shoot camera. Hardware-wise, the Fascinate blows everything other android currently on verizon out of the water. Better cpu, gpu and screen. Not to mention blur is pretty much known as the worst manufacturer UI out along with Motorola going anti-developer with encrypted boot loaders and the eFuse fiasco. The only downfall is that the Fascinate is still "officially" on 2.1 but even so, it performs just as well as most phones running 2.2.
