Issues with calls echoing on Samsung S21

I have been having intermittent issues with calls echoing back to those people I am talking to, both on and off speaker phone.  I have tried several suggestions mentioned on other posts on internet searches, they seem to work when I make the change, but then it starts happening again. Also, the change doesn't always work for all callers.  I made a change today, called one person with a Google Pixel phone and it was not echoing.  I then received a call from someone with a Samsung Galaxy S21 and this person was receiving the echo.  I have read many posts on the internet and it doesn't seem like there is a permanent solution to this issue.  It is a very annoying issue for anyone that I call.  I need some sort of permanent solution.

Call quality is something that is important to me, and I wouldn't want to have calls echoing back to myself or to others when speaking with them, nandovette. I appreciate all you have done to try to narrow this issue down, and we are here to help. Can you tell me more about when this issue first started? To clarify, are you hearing the calls echo back on your end, or are callers hearing the echo on their end?

The issue started over 5 months ago. The echo happens only on the callers side, I do not hear the echo.

Thank you for the information We want to figure out what's going on here and we're going to send you a Private Note so we can gather more details.

Hi Jesse,

Where will I receive this private note? Email or text message?

  • I have the same issue with S21 phone. Just starting happening 4-5 months ago. I have had the phone for a year. It is necessary for me to use wifi calling since I don't have good Verizon signal where I am at. I usually don't use wifi calling except at home. I have switched internet providers and still the same issue.  The issue is only when I receive a call and th person on the other end gets the echo. Always, if we hang up and I call them back, then there is no issue with echoing.

I am also having this issue. It usually happens if someone calls me. They will hear the echo and we have to hang up and I call them back. I am in an area where I need to use wifi calling because our service is very spotty, especially on weekends in the summer. I use my phone for work and this is very annoying and unprofessional. Please help.

The problem with Private Note solution is that doesn't help anyone else in the Community who has the same problem! I went thru this diagnosis and the solution was "to turn the phone off and then on again". Very frustrating!  This echo seems to be a problem for multiple people with S21 phones.  Is there a solution that can be posted to the Community Forum?

LCUMMINS3735, we want to make sure that we do everything we can to help. Could you please tell us a bit more about when the echo issue first started for you? Does rebooting the device momentarily fix the issue? Besides restarting your phone, what other troubleshooting have you completed?

Did you ever receive a response or solution?

I've had the same issue for probably close to a year. It drives my frequent callers nuts! Calling them back fixed it. I have callers that now text me to call them which drives me nuts.

What's the point of having a phone? It sends to only be with the S21. Others in my home with different phones are not experiencing issues.

We want to make sure that your calls work. Please use this link to go to our support page: https://www.verizon.com/support/devices/ Find your device and click on "Troubleshooting". After that, select the issue that most closely matches your symptoms and go through the troubleshooting. Make sure you log in so any troubleshooting is tracked and we don't repeat it later on.
