My phone just updated and I have lost about 2000 pictures. Would have liked to have been warned. Any chance to get them back? Where did they go?
Same thing happened on S9 plus.
Updated to Android Q now gallery crashed pictures gone. Camera crashes play store crashes.

Two very important things to do prior to your next update:
1. Set up you phone to not allow automatic updates. You will still get the updates, but you decide date and time to install it.
2. Before you install the update, remove the SD card from the phone.
