This has been going on for several years now. If I send and/or receive too many MMS texts within a short period of time all future MMS messages lock up for a good 10-15 minutes (in rare occasions for a few hours). I'll try answering the usual questions I've seen pop up:
And to answer all the questions:
it's been happening for several years
it happens on multiple messaging apps that go through the VZ network (messages, messages+, vz messages) but it doesn't happen with wi-fi only networks like telegram and whatsapp
it's been happening across multiple phones: samsung, motorola
it happens with any group: I'm in several different texting groups all with different phone numbers and providers
it does not happen with my wife's iPhone
it happens in both Wifi and Data only, and it also happens when airplane mode is enabled
it also happens even after I've reset network settings too
Current phone seeing the issue is the S21
Current app being used is Google Messages

In Google Messages, there are three dots in the corner, tap that and then Settings.
In Chat Features what is the Status?
In Advanced, verify Auto-Download MMS is on.

It's on. MMS does work sometimes, it's just when there's high sends/received in a short period of time it simply stops working. This just happens often because the groups I'm in have several people so even a brief back and forth with some/most of the people in the group can cause the "time out" to happen.

Also Status says Connected. I've never had a problem with SMS texts though which these "Chat Features" seem to apply too since I've never seen any of these features in a group chat.

Hey Eaims1,
This just started happening to me a couple days ago for absolutely no reason. Instead of trying to get Verizon to fix whatever is causing it, I'm actually working with one of the messaging apps who wants to actually help and get this solved. Within one day I think they have a working app as I tested it a few hours ago and 30 mms messages went through in under 5 seconds.
I'm going to stress test it tomorrow.

Let us know what messaging app your testing. I've tried them all with no luck.

Textra.
I've used it for years and when it stopped working a couple days ago I reached out to them as a last ditch effort and they were eager to try and figure out a solution.

Try this link:
http:// adhoc.textra. me/ Textra-45664. apk
(I had to break up the link to get it to post)
It's a rolled back version and has so far fixed the issue for me.
Good Luck!

If that version of Textra doesn't work for anyone please let me know.
I'm still working with their team and they want to keep doing tests to figure out the problem. The version they sent me might work for some, but they still haven't solved what is causing this mms failure and would like to work with someone who is still having issues.

The link doesn't work. If you could send it some other way or re post it that would be great

The forum wouldn't let me post the link so I added some spaces through it. If you type it into your browser it should work or copy the URL and paste it into a text file so you can remove the spaces.

Also, if you rather reach out to Textra, Max is happy to try and help figure out your problems.

I'm still having the same issue with Textra. I definitely think this has to do with Verizon. For some reason my home cellular coverage is pretty low recently (-118dbm). Even though all the texting apps are supposed to use Wi-Fi they don't seem to be doing it and relying on cellular. If I move to another location in my city that has better cellular, there's no issue sending messages embedded in my texts. It's only when I'm at home that there's an issue that it doesn't go on any texting application.
No issues with WhatsApp or any data only apps, only texting. Definitely points the Verizon's network. I've heard from other people in my area that recently Verizon's been having some major performance issues.
As to the Verizon tech support who keeps on asking me to private message them on the issue, I've done that many times and you've really done nothing at all to help other than telling me to factory reset my phone.

We understand how important it is to stay connected. We just want to confirm, is this an issue with a specific texting app or regular text messages? If you turn off cellular does the problem still occur?

I noticed your message and the trouble you're having with an app, Lazyhour. I realize that using texting has its benefits in when it is needed. Are you having the same issue using the standard texting app that came with your device? What is the make and model of your phone? -Ed
