Managed to fix Voicemail

My voicemail quit working after I stopped using Robokiller and tried reverting back to standard voicemail.  People calling me would get directed to voicemail, but when I looked in Voicemail, I always had zero messages.  I know I should have had messages because I got a text asking me why I wasn't responding to voicemail.  So I called *86, then selected option 2 and sent a message to my phone number.  That worked, my voicemail started working.  Only problem is that any old messages that should have been there were not there.
