Messages app not showing sender or preview on lock screen

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S22. I recently uninstalled/reinstalled the Verizon Messages app (wanted to test Google Messages, but liked the Verizon better).
It used to be that with Verizon Messages, if I received a text it would pop up with who the text was from on my lock screen and if I pulled down I could preview the message.
Since reinstalling, it will not show me anything on my lock screen other than just saying "messages+ 1" and I cannot see who the text is from unless I completely unlock my phone AND open the app.
How can I resolve this to get it back to how it was? I tried changing notification settings to "enable pop-up" but this just made a whole new window pop-up in a picture-in-picture style when a new message is received, and that is obnoxious and not at all what I want.

Thank you for reaching out to us here. We certainly understand wanting to have notifications the way that you prefer to receive them. We understand that you prefer Message + (formerly Verizon Messages) and we will be glad to assist with some troubleshooting to determine if this is a feature that can be reinstated with your device. We also want to make sure that we share that Verizon Message+ app sunsets in late 2024. As part of the sunset, Verizon encourages customers to migrate to Google's messaging app called "Google Messages".
