My Samsung Galaxy Nexus closes out in the middle of texting

I got the new Galaxy Nexus two days ago and have had several problems already.  Although I have been able to fix everything so far, the most recent issue that I am trying to fix occurs in the middle of texting.  While I am in the middle of composing a text, occasionally the phone will just completely close out and go to the main menu (where it almost always opens a new app).  How can I fix this?

Thanks!

It may be a App problem. I would check the last ones you loaded before this issue started.

unchained9,

The Galaxy Nexus is a great device and I wish to get this frustrating situation resolve for you!  Is there any error message when it closes out? Also, are you using a third party application from the Market for messaging? If so, try going into the Settings>Apps>to remove the application from the device. You can also go into the native messaging app from Settings>Apps and clear Cache/Data to fix. When it does close out, is it happening when you type a specific word or even to specific contacts? Please advise more information so I and the community can continue to assist.

Thank you!

I had this happen to me too 3 times the other day. What I figured out is that when I was trying to press the spacebar, my thumb would be too close to the home screen button icon. I was actually pressing the spacebar and home screen button, causing the phone to leave the text app and go to the home screen.

Not saying this is why in your case, but something to look for. I remember reading this post, a couple of hours before it happened to me.

Have a good day
