NO VOICEMAIL ICON AFTER DECLINING VISUAL VOICEMAIL

What's the deal?  I have an S5 (using it as a backup), and one day last week my voicemail notification icon stopped showing up.  Not surprisingly, it started after I declined paying $2.99 a month for Visual Voice Mail.  Does anyone know what happened to Basic Voicemail? Do Verizon customers have to pay for voicemail now?  I've seen other threads on this, and all the Verizon Customer service reps say is all you have to do is call your voicemail and select Option 4, then Option 1 (turn on or off vm notification).  But there is no Option 1.  It too has suddenly and mysteriously just disappeared.  So obviously customer service are clueless.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks! j

Getting your notification is an important part of your voicemail system Jmacmedia8. Let’s work together to see what’s going on. Ann154 mentioned a great point. You want to make sure your basic voicemail is setup. If unsure, we do offer the free visual voicemail option on the device. Please take a look at this link: http://vz.to/1zHezvI to clear the application set up first. Then as you go through the steps, ensure you decline the Premium Visual Voicemail option. Once you go through those steps and it’s completed, please keep us update to see if your notification return.

Did you setup the basic voicemail after cancelling the Visual Voicemail? I know I had to do a little bit of setup after I tried visual voicemail for a partial month and went back to basic voicemail.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

You came to the right place for assistance JMACMEDIA8. Let's work together to get your voice mail. As Ann154 mentioned, do you have basic voice mail setup? Also, was there a software update recently done on the S5? If so then please provide us a screenshot of the Android, baseband, software, and kernel version.

Just call VZW and have them add the feature for Basic Visual Voicemail. You declined Premium Visual Voicemail which is different. *86 or speed dial 1 will still work. Once the feature has been fixed, just restart your phone.
