No Alert for Text Msg Usage

I have an old plan with limited Text and had it set where Id receve an alert if I get close to going over. In the past, I'd get that alert at least 3 times. This month I received none and went over my limit in last two days of my billing cycle. Why didn't I get alert this time? I didn't change any settings about it. TY!

as far back as i can remember i've had unlimited messages.

have you upgraded your phone?
