I have the note 20 Ultra 5g and since Verizon announced the nationwide 5G rollout yesterday my phone is still on LTE+ I have reset the network, I have called in for tech support, I have a 5G sim card and I'm on the Get More Unlimited 5G UW plan. I also verified according to the coverage map that 5G is available in my area, so how do I get 5G on my phone?

I have the same issue. Unlocked Note 20 Ultra but no connection to 5G. Did you check your network options and see if you have 5G as option? On my phone 5G is not listed as an option and this is why I can't connect to 5G.

We can definitely help you with getting 5G on your device. Since we have launched our Nationwide 5G network, you will receive a software update that will allow you to connect to this new network.
Please go to Settings, then System Updates to get the update for your device.

Yes, you are correct. We will need to wait until we receive authorization from Samsung. Let us know if there is anything else we can help with?- ChristianP_VZW

IF your phone was activated on LTE... You'll also need a 5G SIM card. They look identicle but your phone won't access 5G without it. I had to get mine swapped at a store.

Did you activate it in the note 20 ultra? if you did, then you are fine to keep your sim you have...im saying if you activated your sim in a non 5G device like an older iPhone or android that did not support 5G then you will most likely need a new SIM card... Since I activated my sim in my iPhone 11 Pro max, I needed a new sim to be work in my note 20 ultra for 5G....with my new SIM, my phone picks up 5G in the areas it says is covered... but I noticed in some areas where the map says yeah it is covered, my phone does not pick it up, instead its just LTE +

I did the change software trick to get 5G to work on my phone using verizon. You have to trick your phone into thinking it has another sim inside. It's not hacked and knox is still secure. I think it's stupid all other companies allow 5G to be an option to pick, but the second a verizon sim enters the phone, boom, the 5G option is nowhere to be found, on a $1,400 phone! If you put a sim in a phone that supports 5G... The carrier has 5G in the area, and you're on a proper plan... The phone should just pick it up, WITHOUT a software update.

I just got off the phone with Samsung the rep told me that Verizon is not going to allow unlocked note 20 ultras to get update and said that the only way to get 5g was to get locked phone through carrier, but since I cant use the 5g option They would refund me purchase price of phone.

That's a bummer. I called at the end of last week and Samsung said that unlocked phones would get the update. I'm trying to call now and see if I get another answer.

realtor_nancy, we would certainly like to help with this today. Have you already received an update or response from Samsung since your last engagement within this thread?

KevinM_VZW, Talked to Samsung and they said unlocked phones would get the update that would enable Verizon nationwide 5G but could not get time frame. Hoping this information is correct. Your customers would greatly appreciate if Verizon could assist in getting some official word on the unlocked phones.

Thank you for your reply. The updates are released by the manufacturer, so we recommend connecting with them for any sort of time frame. You can also keep an eye on software updates here: https://www.verizon.com/support/samsung-galaxy-note20-ultra-5g-update/.

We want to make sure that you are able to access 5G services on your device. With regard to the device not getting 5G service do you currently have the 5G plan to provide this option for you?

Thanks for confirming. When you activated your phone did you use the new SIM card that came with your phone or did you use the SIM from your old phone? ScottD_VZW
