Note 7 Recall Details

Verizon Wireless,

Could you please provide more clarification to your Note 7 owners regarding the recall.  Below are my specific questions.

1) Your announcement sounds like I can only downgrade my phone.  Are there any options that Verizon is offering for those of us who simply want to exchange our phones for a new Note 7 or are you going to force us to go through Samsung for that?

2) If we go through Samsung to get a new phone what steps will we need to take to ensure our accounts reflect the correct IMEI?  Will that simply change once we insert the SIM card?

3) Lastly, are you offering Note 7 accessory returns?  I have seen no mention of it but it seems odd considering AT&T and T-Mobile are both allowing their customers to return accessories.

Just to be clear AT&T and T-Mobile are allowing users to get the $25 Samsung apology, a new phone and a refund on accessories, but it sounds like Verizon is forcing us to downgrade our phone and receive $25 only for new accessories.  I am not use to Verizon doing stuff like this but clarification would be nice so that I can figure out what I need to do.

Thanks,

Chris

I've seen the same thing, like flyers111 my Note is not overheating or even getting warm, so I'll check with the store next Wednesday, hopefully they will have replacements.

Just a quick followup, just logged into my Verizon account. They have a message posted with a link to what you posted. Starting to look up... Smiley Happy

Just traded in my Note 7 for an S7Edge 9 hours ago  I was told however that I could trade again as soon as the Note 7 came out again.

All,

I just left my local corporate store and got my new Note 7.  No problem with the transfer back to the new Note 7.  Just had to pay the difference in taxes ($4.32) and was out the door in no time.  I liked the S7 Edge, but I like the Note 7 better.  Good luck getting your new phones!

I have a New Note 7 with the green battery. The switch was painless but now have to wait for my apps to appear back on my phone. I was told that the $25 bill credit will be applied to my bill soon.

Arrg, I am sooo jealous.  I have to work from 6am to 6pm tomorrow. I wonder how many units the store I am dealing with got in. Lol, this is making me nuts

I went to two local stores this morning, stood in two lines only to have them run out of phones,  mostly because they started handling exchanges yesterday.

If you are as impatient as I am or don't want to play Verizon Store Whack-a-Mole you CAN call Verizon and have them ship you a Note 7 in the color of your choosing.

I even have an S7 Edge to turn in but they are still shipping me the Note 7. I just have to ship back the S7 Edge will all the accessories that came in the box in order to square up my account.

Happy hunting!

Are they just sending you a new one or do you have to return the other phone before they'll ship out the new one

They are shipping the Note7 along with a box to return the S7 Edge.

You can opt for free two day shipping but I wanted mine tomorrow so I paid an extra $13 for overnight.

I just called and they said that must have happened to you in error. And i have to go to a store. And they are all selling out quickly. They are selling to people who didn't originally have the note 7 which I thought they were gonna make sure we were replaced 1st. So I guess I'll have to drive an hour snd pray they have one because thry won't hold one for me either

I'm not sure why they weren't as helpful for you, sorry.

I forgot to mention in my original post that at the stores I went to they offered to order one for me and have it shipped to my house as well, which is pretty much the same thing they did for me when I called Verizon directly.

Ok well maybe that'll happen for me if they are out but they said since I still have the original note I can only exchange it in the store because there are special packaging guidelines when returning the old one

Oh that makes more sense then. I turned in my Note7 on the 10th for an S7 Edge and they are letting me return the S7 Edge in the mail.

Anyone who still has a Note 7 is probably stuck returning it to the store.

So I visited two Verizon stores.  And am still using my loaner.

Store 1 is out of Note 7s already (at 1PM).  They expect more in this evening and told me to come back tomorrow at 10AM.  When I told them I worked and couldn't get there til Friday they said that would be too late and they would not have anymore.  I asked if they were selling to new people, not just exchanging and they claim they are NOT selling to new.  I asked about availability and the Sep 30 date and was told I HAD to exchange my loaner by Sep 30 or pay the restocking fee.  And that they really had no idea how many there were getting, color or when.  I asked about ordering online like I did originally and they said no, that I had to come to the store.

Store 2:  They were having network or phone issues and basically ignored me until I asked if they could just answer a question.  When I asked about Note 7s they said that no stores in the area had any (altho the other Verizon I visited was no more than 5 miles away and they had them this AM) and that they wouldn't get them until next week according to their regional mgr.  This guy did say if they didn't get them in the Sep 30 date was not an issue.

So I guess the expectation is that everyday I go stand in line at Verizon at 10AM to find if they have any phones.  Sadly with an expensive phone, it requires most people to go to work to be able to pay for it and NOT standing in line daily.

Once again, Verizon's lack of process and information makes it difficult for those that were not standing in line right at 10AM today.

Can't blame the store managers...they are only getting bits and pieces of info.

I'm at the store now.  They have phones. But won't give me a box with the phone because I don't have my box....

Also,  no Bill credit. Accessories only, or i have to request thru customer care.

I got an email this morning from the parent company of my local store (authorized retailer, not corporate), in response to a previous inquiry about the replacement. The email said that replacement units were being sent to the local stores today and should be there  this week. I then called my local store and the lady there confirmed they were on the way, she said they should be there by Friday or Saturday. Hoping this happens!!!

First in line this morning and now have my replacement phone.

Lots of folks in line and they were doing crowd control by limiting only 7 people into the store at a time.

They apparently only got two colors in - blue and silver...or was it gold.

I now am the proud owner of a Note 7 with the green battery icon!

So for the 3d time in a few short weeks, am resetting up all my app accounts.  Hoping this is the last time for awhile!

Good luck for those who are still waiting to exchange.

Yeah, got mine last night at about 10 PM. The store was busy and it was a three hour wait, but I now have a Note 7 again. Nothing was said about the $25 credit and by the time I got helped I had forgotten about it. Oh well, it has been a long and hard process, I just hope it is over. Oh and I have my green battery icon!
