I received the Oreo update this morning on my Samsung Galaxy S7. Afterwards, I also updated some of my existing applications via Play Store (no new applications were downloaded, just updated.) Since this morning I now receive pop up ads on my phone about every 3-5 minutes. I have updated the app notifications and even went into Chrome settings and disabled pop-ups. I can't seem to figure out where or what app is causing the ads, but it's exhausting and frustrating. Any one else seeing a problem after the update, or perhaps with a particular app? (FYI - It's not Facebook - I haven't updated that.)

JADETRES,
Congrats on getting the latest software installed on your Galaxy S7, it's always good to have your device on the newest software version. Regarding the ads popping up on your device, I'm confident we can get to the bottom of it, since it's never fun to have popups when you're trying to use your phone. We don't want this to be exhausting or frustrating any longer.
Although you may not have gotten any new applications, the newest software, along with the new updates for the apps may grant new accessibility on the device, which can cause these silly popups.
What are you in the midst of doing when the ads pop up? Do you notice it happening with certain applications over the others? Also, tell me more about the process you took to update the application notifications, as I don't want to assume the path you took to modify the settings.

I can't answer for the OP, but I get the pop ups ads when my phone is sitting idle, and all the apps are closed.
The applications updated as part of the upgrade process, and I had no choice but to let it run.

We want you to have the best experience on your phone, ANDJEN8. I can understand how frustrating these pop-ups can be. Let's see what's going on. When did these pop-ups start? Did you also just upgrade your software? Is anything else acting up on your phone?

Hi! Thanks for getting back to me. The pop-up ads started right after I
downloaded the latest upgrade, which would have been Oreo. They seem to pop
up mostly when I use the Messages texting app, though sometimes they do pop
up when I open another random app. I haven't upgraded any apps or added
anything new since I downloaded Oreo.
Hope that helps!
Thanks!

We want each interaction with your phone to be a pleasant one, ALLFLO34. I want to uncover a solution to this with you. Please tell me more about the ads that you are receiving. Have you configured your Google Ad settings? You can configure by going to the settings app, tap "Google", tap on "Opt out of Ads Personalization" to turn them off (White). Let us know if that solves the issue.

Hi! I've done all the suggestions listed on the forum including opting out
of the Google Ads personalization but they still pop up. They just pop up
randomly for example when I unlock my phone, open my email, or open any app
for that matter. They started showing up as soon as I downloaded the new
upgrade to my Galaxy S7 Edge on June 16, 2018 at 11:08 pm ET. The
pop-ups are getting very, very annoying!!

I was having problems with popups when I would just check the radar on the weather app that came with the phone. It is a S7 edge. What I did was download norton mobile security and have not had any trouble with pop ups anymore. It told me which app was doing what and would warn me which apps were running in the background. I had the security app from verizon that came with my phone but it did nothing to help with the pop ups.

I know I was going nuts with the pop ups and I thought I might have a virus on the phone and it did stop it.

disable the verizon crapware system app called "Mobile services manager".
it is the DTignite app renamed, verizon thought we wouldn't notice.
it installs apps without your permission.

because mobile services manager already downloaded the apps to your phone. you need to disable it and then remove the apps it installed to stop the popups.
if you dont disable mobile services manager it will keep downloading apps in the background and popups will come back.

We do want to make sure that you can get to the bottom of what’s causing the pop up ads, SusanL0710. The app that you are looking for would be under Settings > Apps > tap the 3 dots and select Show System Apps. Also with regard to the Google settings, you would want to go to Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ad Personalization. Please let us know if this helps.

I do not see mobile services app, I have opted out of everything in Google and logged out, and deleted recent apps, I still get some sort of different ad every morning, my Samsung tablet is logged into Google and I never get ads, I'm sure it's the update from the last phone update, any other suggestions, still get ads.

Thank you for the information, SusanL0710. The Mobile Services app is typically listed under the System Apps. I want to ensure we're on the same page. Could you please tell us a bit more about why you wanted to access the Mobile Services app? Do the pop ups continue when you place your device in Safe Mode? To find out how to place your device in Safe Mode, please feel free to visit the link below.

SusanL0710,
We appreciate you working through this with us. You did mention that the pop-ups still came through in the morning. Was the device in Safe Mode all night? Did you try one of the third part applications mentioned previously in this thread?
