Receiving blurry photos all of a sudden in May 2024

All of a sudden the photos I receive via text are blurry on my S21. The word on Reddit is it's a Verizon issue. Perhaps a Verizon/Samsung issue. It's happening across Android devices - regardless of age - on old and new phones, fancy and less fancy. What can we do?

Hope your having a wonderful weekend! Being on top of your service is important, especially if you are encountering blurry photos since May. Verizon is here to help.

Let's gather more details. What recent changes have you made? Who else is experiencing this problem? What messaging app are you using? Does this occur with all pictures? Does this happen with everyone?

We are all experiencing this, if we get 2 or more pics. One pic is clear, 2 or more is blurry. I have a S24, I have not made any changes to anything, it just randomly started happening a week or so ago. It doesn't matter what texting app I use. I've tried the Samsung app, Google msgs, and Textra.... They are have the same results... Blurry pics. My mom has a A15 and hers is doing it too. I pay $150 a month for our service and we both just got new phones. This is unacceptable!

We are very sorry for the issues you're experiencing Naypalm311. We recommend reaching out to Samsung to see if they have any estimated time for an update or a workaround.

The only change that was made was installing the latest update Verizon sent out. Prior to that this wasn't an issue. There is clearly a big one that update that is causing this issue. It is a Verizon issue, not a phone issue.

I have also been having the same issues with blurry photos since May. I have made no changes to my settings other than security updates. Verizon cell coverage has also been terrible. I'm starting to look for a new carrier after being a loyal Verizon customer for over 20 years. My coworkers on Verizon are also having the same issues with photos.

S20+, same issue since June 1. Single photos are fine, multiples are not. I've tried everything, nothing changes.

We understand how concerning it must be to receive blurry images on your device. Is this from all senders or only certain incoming messages that have multiples? Is your device on the most up to date software version? Can you share with us any additional troubleshooting steps that have been completed on your device since the issue began?

I have been with Verizon for 18 years. Going to to to ATT. My husband has ATT and he gets the same pictures from the same people they aren't blurry. Verizon isn't even acknowledging this. This is unacceptable.

Predpilot85, I'm happy to hear you've been with us for nearly two decades. That does mean alot, and we do care about this problem, as we've been replying to get more details and learn what is going on. As part of that, so I can help out, can you give more details on what messaging app you're using, and does the image issue occur when recieving images while on Wi-Fi or when using your data?

It is not our app. It is not our phones. It is the Verizon update that was done in May causing this issue. MMS is not established on the Verizon access point on my phone amd that could be the problem. I can't change it because Verizon has it blocked. It does not matter if you are on wifi or mobile data. This is a Verizon issue that needs to be fixed immediately. I have been with Verizon for 26 years and issues like this where customer support makes you go through all of these crazy steps knowing they are the problem not us is ridiculous. Step up and fix the problem.

We appreciate the additional details, and we do ask these questions in order to determine the root cause of the problem you are experiencing. Is this happening with all apps?

Both S21 phones on my Verizon plan have this issue since the mid-May Samsung update with AI features. This issue needs to be addressed asap with a vaild solution.  Both of us use the Messages app that came with the phone. App updates are current.

It is vacation season and we are losing photographic memories. It's very annoying and unacceptable to have to ask friends and family to resend pictures one at a time. Are there not Verizon employees using the same phones and network that we all are?

CallMetheBreeze1, we don't want you to miss out on your vacation pictures and we're here to help you get this resolved! We want to gather more info so we can better help you. Does this only happen when sending and receiving to Android devices? If you try using another app like Google Messages do you have the same issue?

@vzw_customer_support this situation is completely unacceptable.

Numerous online forums  are complaining about this, all of which have determined Verizon's network to be the root-cause. Something clearly changed, why hasn't it been reverted?

As a company, Verizon has failed to:
        - Take ownership
        - Provide a workaround
        - Communicate

As a result, what started as an inconvenience has now become infuriating. Others have already stated they will be switching carriers, more will follow if Verizon doesn't address this ASAP.

I'm on my 4th call with Verizon.  I am so annoyed and frustrated.  Reset my settings, and still no solution or acknowledgment of the problem.

I started having the same problem on May 27.... This is unacceptable as I use my verizon phone for business and now I cannot see samples.  Since this appears to be a #Verizon issue, I will have to switch my service provider.

Please advise.
