I went to a Verizon Corporate store in Del Mar yesterday and they told me that I can get any phone as a loaner and will be able to exchange it with a new Note7 when they come out in 2 weeks. So I got a S7 edge. They told me that I was the 5th person to turn in Note7 and everyone left with S7 edge.

They assured me that I will be able to exchange the loaner with Note7. They said they were told the new Note7 will be available in 2 weeks. At least the person greeting the customer and the person that helped me with the swap said the same thing about any phone as a loaner and new Note7s available in 2 weeks.

I just got off the phone with an ogre named Netta at the Lewisville, TX store who stated they have no idea if/when they'll have replacements. I also called Samsung (1-800-SAMSUNG) and was told since I purchased my two phones from Verizon, I'd have to go through Verizon. Since I've received numerous email/text msgs telling me to power down my two devices, what kind of credit will I get since I can't use either of my devices?

I pre-ordered my Note 7 through Best Buy and picked it up on August 19th.  I still have the same Note 7 and got an email from Best Buy on Friday afternoon (September 9th) saying that I could come into my Best Buy to register for a new Note 7.  I got there shortly after 6pm on Friday evening and got registered to get a new Note 7.  I was told while I was there that they got a shipment of phones in that day and if any of them were the color and carrier that I selected, I may get an email the next day to come pick it up.  Saturday afternoon, I got an email from Best Buy stating that my order was delayed but I would still be able to pick it up on Saturday.  After waiting four hours after getting that email, I decided to call Best Buy Mobile to find out what was happening.  I was put on hold while he contacted my local Best Buy.  He actually connected me to the my local store and I talked to the manager of the Best Buy Mobile.  Found out from him that they did have the replacement Note 7's, but they were told by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) that Best Buy could not release the phones until the CPSC said it was okay to do so.  So this may happen to everyone and it probably doesn't matter what carrier you have.

None. If you dont have any back up phones or friends who can loan you theirs you can buy from a third party site like swappa.comor eBay. You also could suspend the lines without billing if they allow you, or toward the cell lines to a landline or set up google voice which is free on your computer and forward the lines there. Tons of options.

Just went to my local store and exchanged for the s7 edge.  Was told the manager put a note on the account that I could exchange back to the note 7 when they are available. No charge.  We will see. Also said that I had to keep track of the status because it's first come first serve.

yeah already started moving my SIX lines to at&t..  Verizon and their rude staff and greedy policy showed their true colors this time.

I'm pretty sure they have Samsung by the throat, said pay us or we'll have everyone go to other phones like our droid z.  def not going to let us use a brand new phone and then trade it back in.

just give us an s7 or J and let Samsung pick up the tab.  why jerk us around.

It's the same on all the other carriers, as I have reported. You yourself are making financial mistake as well moving lines.

Was it a return and buy for the s7? Or was it just an exchange like they just give you the phone and you give yours?

After my family heard of the explosion and fire hazard, they pressed me to dump my Note7, which I am sure is the right thing to do.  I broke down today and went to a local Verizon store.  I was shocked at how super they were.  The check in guy saw the Note7 box in my hand and said "I know why you are here and we'll get this fixed quick."  He told me to find any phone I like while I was waiting to see a sales/tech person.  I planned to go back to the Note 5 but saw the S7 edge and decided to try it.  No questions asked -- they swapped it for the Note7 and used the Samsung built in tool to transfer everything -- apps, settings, etc.  Worked 90% and all I had to do was set up my home screens.  Told me to come back as soon as the Note7 is re-released (which they said they are told is after 10/1 soonest) and I can swap back to it.  I walked in ready for a fight -- figuring I would be downgraded to a crappy safe phone.  Nope -- the gave me the #2 best phone without blinking an eye.  Trust and you will be surprised.
