How can I add my own ringtone to my incoming text messages?

You do this from your messaging app. In the main page of the app, hit menu then settings. There is an option for notifications there.

When I go there, the ringtones I downloaded are not there to choose.  In fact the tones are not the same as the selection for other ringtones.  My purchased ringtones do show up in the regular ringtones section and show up when I assign ringtones to my contacts.

Here are the steps you will take to set up the notification.

From Home Screen touch Messaging

Touch Menu then Settings

Select Notifications or Select Ringtone

Just talked to a guy at Verizon that has the fascinate phone himself.  He said that the ringtones are too long for the notification sounds.  There is a free app you can download.  Waiting for him to call me back with the name of the app.  You can shorten your downloaded ringtones or upload music from your CDs via the computer and use sections of those as well.  Will let you know what I find out about the name of the app.  I am not sure where I have to go to get it yet.
