Why would anyone purchase the S9 or S9+ through Verizon instead of directly through Samsung? On VZW the S9 is $799 and + is $929 on Samsung's sight it's $719 and $839 for all carriers and unlocked versions. I would also assume you don't have to pay the bs $30 upgrade fee Verizon charges.

The unlocked models from Samsung might not support the Verizon Visual Voicemail application or the Wi-Fi calling capability on the Verizon Wireless network.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

That I understand, but the verizon version is still cheaper on the samsung site. So why would anyone not buy it through there and save $90?

Because Verizon runs promotions that reduce the cost of the phone. Right now Verizon is offering $300 in bill credits that reduce the cost of the phone to $629.99 over the 24 month device payment agreement.
You can also save even more by purchasing the Verizon version through Best Buy.
So why would someone choose to pay more for the Verizon version of the phone through Samsplode?

I just upgraded to the S9+ and took advantage of Verizon's $300 bill credit promotion. It's a great phone, and the first Samsung I've ever owned. Very pleased with it.

Reduced the price by $200?
In looking at the VZW site just a moment, the pricing is unchanged from a week ago when I bought the S9 Plus. It's still $300 off in bill credits, and the full retail price is still $929.99. What site are you looking at?
was $38.74

However that is ONLY if you want to purchase on payments AND if you stay with Verizon for 2 full years. Otherwise, the price is still at MSRP.

I'm assuming they keep pushing payment plans so you're locked into Verizon until it's paid off? If and when I plan on upgrading I planned on paying full retail, so full retail is $90 more on Verizon then on Samsung's site. I'm also still on my grandfathered unlimited plan. Not sure if monthly payments would change that or not.

You need to ask VZW about the grandfathered unlimited plan.
