SD card after oreo update...app not found

Since updating to oreo last month, I've had several issues with my s7. It gets hot easily, the battery drains faster, I had to switch texting services, & it's slower. The biggest issue I have is the sd card still works & shows it still has my sd card apps on it, but on the apps screen, all of them show up as grated out icons that say "app not found" when pressed. This problem somehow has fixed on it's own twice, but after rebooting, it has happened again & stuck. I don't know what else to do besides a reset. My photos & videos are all backed up to the cloud, so no data will be lost. I just have all the photos sorted into files & it's much more convenient to have the sd card & OS getting along. Again...the apps are all there & are listed under settings/storage/sd card...but they will not open from the apps screen. Anyone find an easy fix? Both times my apps magically reappeared, I had just charged my phone...but I have no clue why they disappear when the phone is restarted or reappear so randomly (until the next restart or battery bottoming out) & this never happened before oreo.

I just discovered that if I Google the apps, google says they are installed & they will open from the link google provides. The ad card is fine...it's just the apps screen that is messed up & showing "app not found".

ADM7997, we completely understand the importance of being able to have your device working at its est after any update. Seeing that your Galaxy S7 is having issues with the applications installed after the update to OREO, getting in contact with Samsung customer service or Android customer service will be beneficial to you finding a resolution.

The phone isn't reading the SD card fast enough to register the applications installed on the SD card. I would suggest that you move the applications back to the internal memory space for smoother operation. Otherwise if you insist on having the applications on the SD card, you should get a faster reading speed SD card.

ADM7997, the apps on my card are grayed out when I first turn the phone on.  But, after a few seconds and the card is read, the apps are functional.  Ann154's suggestion is a good one assuming you have room on the phone to store your apps.  If your phone is like mine, there is no way to store the apps and their data on the phone.  My phone is nearly full without the apps from the card.

Mine always were grayed out at first, too, but they now stay that way. I have 10gb free space on the phone, but 13gb apps stored on the 64gb sd card. In addition, google play & the OS take u more & more space daily even after clearing the cache. I prefer the apps stay on sd to not bog down the phone. If I go to the my apps list in google play, the apps are there & will open from there. In addition, the gallery still works & I can still move apps to & from internal storage. It's just an odd inconvenience that has occurred with the oreo update, I guess. Thanks for your kind response.

This just one more issue Oreo has created.  It has been a nightmare for many S7, 8, and 9 users.

It's a bug and i have the same issue as well after the update. Here is the temporary fix. Download any theme  and change your phone to this theme. You will then see the icons reappear for the apps on the SD card. Then you can switch back to your original theme.

You will need to do this after every reboot of the phone.

Sucks right?
