Samsung Fascinate - USB Device Not Recognized

"The USB device attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it"  Yup, thats the new message I get now when I plug the phone into the PC.  Powering down and pulling the batt doesn't fix it either.  Settings on the phone appear to be correct.  Haven't installed any new apps or made any recent upgrades either and it was just working the other day too. Anyone have any ideas?

What function are you trying to perform by plugging the Fascinate into your computer?

If you are trying to transfer files, make sure you have the device in USB Storage Mode

 

Did you try to use a different USB port on your computer to see if you receive the same message?

More specifically, the message you are getting "The USB device attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it" is a Windows error message so there may be updates that need to be made to Windows.

Have you contacted them regarding the error?

make sure you have the latest drivers from Samsung.com
