What happens when you go to APPLICATION | SETTINGS | ABOUT PHONE | SYSTEM UPDATES | CHECK NEW ? This should bring down any updates that are queued for your phone if it is working correctly. If you get some other messages like "SERVER UNAVAILABLE", then I would take it to the Verizon store and see what they can do.

There are times that I would agree with mdram4x4, and that I wished I would have stayed with 2.1 . I needed flash, plus I had purchased the car dock and I wanted audio to work correctly through my radio.

The question becomes, what do you need to work on your phone that makes you want to upgrade to 2.2?

Unless there is something special you really want from 2.2 I would also suggest staying on 2.1. Read about the bugs in 2.2 and decide if the special things you want  from 2.2 are worth these problems.

Phantom button presses. Causes apps to exit on their own, screen shots taken when trying to lock the phone or using the power button, and 4 special buttons lights doing funky dance patterns...

Alarm clock feature messed up...

Battery life shortened! It has a band aid, but it is not what it used to be at all.

Calls not being received.. ED05 supposedly fixed this, but I haven't confirmed it yet. I don't' call my own cell a lot and other people quit calling me cause they thought I was ignoring them! It was too random for me.

Text messaging issues such a messages going to the wrong recipient. Again it was to random for me to confirm its actually fixed.

Music player stops after 1 hour of play time.

There are more, but these are the one I am most familiar with.

Thank you so much. The 'Check New' is suddenly working, so the upgrade is finished yesterday. That is unexpected (^ ^)  upgrade since I gave up due to below suggestions (keeping 2.1 is better for battery). Anyway, I am suffering short battery time issue now. ^ ^. Thank you and have a good weekend.

I agree that 2.1 was a more stable OS than 2.2 but way too many of the web sites that I must use to monitor my finances and business require or use Flash content so in my case the phone with 2.1, stable as it was, simply was too incomplete for my needs. The original release of 2.2 and subsequent permutations have been "trying" to say the least but my phone at present is stable and free of any glitch that I am aware of. One improvement of 2.2 that I can quantify is with Quadrant Scores: 2.1 averaged about 880 and 2.2 averages 1030. This is not the 3-5 times faster that I read was originally advertised but the phone is noticeably faster.

A lot of the speed that the phone is capable of, often cannot be realized because the strength of your signal completely controls the speed at which your phone communicates so 1-2 bars is mediocre performance, 3 bars is very good and 4 bars the phone flies...the problem is I encountered 4 bars of signal maybe 5-10 % of the time.
