vzn is attached to motorola at the hip. this is just my theory, but maybe it's possible they'd like to sell AS MANY X's and droid II's as possible. once they release the fascinate, the moto's will quit selling (just like the incredible quit selling once they released the X and droid II). they don't advertise anything as agressively as they adv moto. they also make sure moto gets all of the updates before any other brand. i'm an incredible owner and love it, but i also accept the fact that vzn cares MUCH more about moto devices than mine (STILL waiting on 2.2!!!). another possible reason is that maybe it was set to release with 2.1 and now they want it to release with 2.2?? just guessing here. also, i don't know what their big christmas devices will be. maybe they are pushing it to late fall in an attempt to be a big holiday seller??? or maybe there is a screen shortage with samsung....lol (jk).
Why would they release the phone now when they know there are major issues with the gps locator. This a samsung issue and the gps feature is major for most people that use smartphones. If you owned a cell phone company would you want to release a phone with one of its top features not functioning. Dont blame Verizon, blame samsung
In case anyone doesn't know yet, the Samsung Fascinate will be out by September 9th (though I've seen a few news bits saying it will be the 8th). Best Buy is taking preorders for the device tomorrow (29th).
Personally, I can't wait! My contract is up a day before this hits stores so I'll be first in line! I love the Droid series phones but think Samsung will start giving Motorola a run for their money with this new lineup. Even though it's only coming out with 2.1 (to start with) and a 5mp camera, everything else either compatible or better than any in the Droid series, (at least on paper), so we'll see. Just wish Verizon would put something on their site regarding this phone since it's launching next week!
