Samsung Messages RCS support

Hey Verizon, I think it's time to activate RCS support on your network so phones like the Samsung Galaxy can start using RCS with the native Samsung Messages app. These are flagship phones. Is the new S20 going to not be supported. If Google can take over and make it work regardless of the carriers, then it should be easy for RCS to work across all carriers with any messages app no questions asked. These are modern times with 5G coming out and we still can't use RCS? That's pathetic. Get with the times (and tech) You claim to have the best network? PROVE IT!!!!!!

You have it enabled on the S9 but that phone is "outdated" but it is the only one that supports RCS with Samsung Messages? The S10 and Note 10 should have been updated months ago. And now with the S20 series, they should have it enabled out of the box. This has been really poor customer service. I mean, my $5/month Tello service supports RCS for my kids phone.

Verizon has their own proprietary messaging app (which is utter trash and hasn't seen a UI update in years) that has Verizons version of RCS incorporated.  Why would Verizon allow RCS in a manufacturers messaging app when they can control/track your data through their own servers?  We are talking about Verizon here.

Hello there hellofalcon! We would be more than happy to help you today. What device are you using and what issues are you encountering with your Message+?

I'm not using Messages+ because it's a horrible app. I have Google messages installed on a Note 10 because Verizon refuses to activate RCS through the stock Samsung messages app like it had with the S9.

So I've run into this issue now.. where at&t is using the universal profile and when anyone on verizon uses google messages talking to someone on at&t the messages stop sending once it goes into chat mode and no one is receiving anything .... My friend on at&t and the mass verizon customers she talks to no one can text her. This seriously needs fixing.. I'm resorting to fudging facebook to communicate with a couple people because of this bug or issue with the two services fighting each other..

This is not decided by the manufacturer.  It is decided on the carrier.  Why did Verizon quit activating it after the S9?

Its 2022 and we are still going through this. I pay too much money for your cell service to not actually receive all technology has to offer.

RCS messaging or Advanced Messaging is  currently only available for texts between Samsung
Galaxy S9 and S9+. However, this may change in the future. Please check our website for updates as they become available.

I agree, it's ridiculous that the Samsung Note 10 can't access RCS messaging!  I have to downgrade my phone, just to use RCS messaging?!!??!?!?!  This entirely smells of the "ISIS" verizon app  where Verizon was blocking (they deny it) the google wallet app!  Proven by the fact that another phone of the identical brand and version on a different carrier was able to use Google Wallet but not mine which is on Verizon.  Different phone back then but similar issue!  This seems to be a shotty customer service experience.  I have thought so many times leaving Verizon and would if I didn't have to switch my wife's phone and my daughter's iPad to another carrier also.  I might still do that.

Very frustrating indeed!

John Oliver also had mentioned this on segment about Net Neutrality (10:28 min)

The last thing that we want is for you to consider leaving our Verizon family. We want to make sure that we are on the same page. How frequently do you use RCS messaging? DavidR_VZW

It is now January 2021. You have had 2 full years to get RCS for the S10. You can literally download Google Messages on the phone and use RCS but for some reason the default Samsung app does not have that ability and the Verizon S10 is the ONLY carrier and phone without the ability to do so. Please explain this to me. There is no excuse for not having it and even less excuse to not respond to these questions. Do not keep replying to this question and others with a standard, cut-n-paste response. Why isn't it available only for the S10 on Verizon but available for older models? If you can use RCS on Google Messages, there's no reason Samsung messages can't also if it wasn't for the carrier.

It isn't available for the Note 20 U yet. Definitely not RCS and pretty annoying, I wonder when they'll flip the switch.

Bmw58601, you are absolutely correct, RCS is not yet available for the Note 20 U quite yet. As soon as that switch is flipped, your phone will get the network update so you may start enjoying that service from your new phone. Details on any releases are available at https://www.verizon.com/support/software-updates/. We do hope that you are enjoying your phone. I ended up selling my note for a phone that uses that google messages by default. It's not quite as reliable on a samsung phone or any other phone for that matter other than the pixel the phone its technically made for. That's basically why everyone is complaining to verizon in the first place. You're the only network that somehow limits the rcs from working at all with the standard messaging app and the only options we have is to hope our friends use google messages or verizon messages + to use the features. Again that's if the person's phone has the app to work. The reliability standpoint and the fact probably 75% of samsung owners use that stock app because it's perfectly fine. Which leaves google messages and verizon messages + unable to receive rcs messages from them. You guys see the problem now ??? You push this app not everyone wants and another app also not everyone wants unless they own a pixel, and the rcs is useless between verizon to Google and useless from sms to Google and vice versa. So you have this huge mass of people unable to use anything rcs because they choose to use the app the phone came with, and it limits the rcs between google and verizon also. Another thing too is other networks unless they're using Google messages themselves due to this not working causes dropped messages. You essentially have to turn chat off for an at&t custom who's using the stock samsung messaging app with rcs because they're not remotely compatible at all. You need to implement it... It's not only crushing features it's limiting contact between friends and family too.

Unfortunately where I live that verizon is the only one that covers the entire state rural and all. The state is primarily rural. At&t would be in second but doesn't cover but maybe 1/2 of that and t mobile only covering 1/5th of that. Plus pricing wise it doesn't come out any better with 3 lines on straight talk to get the rcs on verizon yes straight talk uses rcs on your network verizon geez. But overall losing the coverage and increasing my cost isn't something I'd do so I'm kinda stuck with em.

I also agree. I have the Z Fold 2 on Verizon, one of the most expensive phones you can get and guess what, no RCS using Samsung Messages.  I even recently received the Android 11 update through Verizon and it still isn't an option. There should be zero excuses from Verizon on why this feature is not enabled on every device on their network. And don't even get me started on all the other useful features they disable on Samsung phones so they can force you to pay for their services.
