Samsung Messages RCS support

Hey Verizon, I think it's time to activate RCS support on your network so phones like the Samsung Galaxy can start using RCS with the native Samsung Messages app. These are flagship phones. Is the new S20 going to not be supported. If Google can take over and make it work regardless of the carriers, then it should be easy for RCS to work across all carriers with any messages app no questions asked. These are modern times with 5G coming out and we still can't use RCS? That's pathetic. Get with the times (and tech) You claim to have the best network? PROVE IT!!!!!!

You have it enabled on the S9 but that phone is "outdated" but it is the only one that supports RCS with Samsung Messages? The S10 and Note 10 should have been updated months ago. And now with the S20 series, they should have it enabled out of the box. This has been really poor customer service. I mean, my $5/month Tello service supports RCS for my kids phone.

I am a consumer too and I sincerely understand your desire to use a specific messaging application. We do not have any control over the features included with non-Verizon applications, please contact the manufacturer (https://www.samsung.com/us/support/#) for assistance with the Samsung Messages application.

What part don't you get we don't want to use Google messaging

You can use it on the google messages app but it does not have the same functionality of the samsung messages app.  In order to use it on samsung messages Verizon must support it.  What I don't understand is why Verizon is dragging their feet when all of the other carriers have it.  This is one of the major factors in swapping to another carrier which I am starting with this week.

Thank you for the details, mark148. We would hate to lose your preference. If you don't mind me asking, what features are you missing?

I just upgraded from my S9+ to the S20+ and was SHOCKED to find that advanced messaging was not supported by Verizon on my brand new S20+. It is supported on other carriers, but for some reason, Verizon has chosen to block RCS support on this phone. I am speechless. How is it possible that they would roll out RCS support 1 year into the lifespan of the S9+ (that's right it was retrofitted and allowed into the S9+ well after its launch). but not continue to make it available for all other phones on the network. At first, I thought they must be testing it out with the S9 but then in a bit, it will be widely available. But no, my brand new S20+ cant use it because Verizon chooses not to support it on its network. It might be time for a migration to t-mobile where it is supported on the S20+ (yup, not the phone's problem, Verizon's problem).

Hello indredcol89, we're concerned to learn you feel this way, and we'd love to help. The last thing we want is to lose you as a customer. Any particular feature you like about RCS that you don't have at this time?

Hey verizon stop pushing people to google messages.   When you go into Advanced Chat on that app it says the carrier does not support it.   FIX IT

We understand your concern, however, you'll have to use Google Messages in order for RCS to work. Are you getting this message through Google or Samsung Messages? - ChristianP_VZW

I'm using Google Messages on a Note 20 Ultra... yeah, it still doesn't work.  Nice try.

Thank you for that information. If you go to the Messages app and go to Settings, then Chat options, what does it show?

I did state it was chat enabled. And I had to disable it altogether because for some reason google messages and the rcs at&t is using without google messages is making it to where messages won't send when chat is enabled. It's pretty lame.. they're using rcs without google messages.. were stuck with only google messages only part way doing the job..

These are pretty sad responses.  How is it that no one at Verizon knows what's going on with this?  I was totally fine "settling" with google messages for RCS support until I bought a note 20 ultra and a new galaxy watch3 and realized that the watch doesn't fully support google messages.  Switch to Samsung messages and you still don't have RCS enabled??  So the s9 got RCS support but anyone who upgraded to the s/note 10 or 20 line is just out of luck?  GREAT business model.  Stop being so stingy with features and updates or I'll gladly take my measly $500/month account to a competitor that doesn't wiseguy me around.

This is beyond frustrating and frankly, I'm not sure why I haven't ditched verizon already because this kind of thing is never ending with them.

Mine is supported.  Galaxy Note 10+ on VZW.  I don't recall it ever NOT working.

To clarify, I meant that GOOGLE MESSAGES supports RCS (Advanced Chat Features) on my device.

I'm honestly upset about this myself.. the s9 is 2 years old. The pixel 3 also 2 years old next month... Why do I have to use Google on a Samsung, I understand it's the pixels default so I used it on there. The note 20 ultra has Samsung by default yes I can use Google, but I'd like to use what it came with mainly for reliability... Stock apps tend to not have issues like aftermarket ones. Hurry up Verizon... You see customers are mad, it's not the manufacturers fault, Samsung gives the option if the carrier supports it..

I cant even get RCS working in Google Messages on my Note 20 Ultra.

Verizon doesn't seem to allow it on the Samsung Messages app either.  How can you launch a flagship phone and cripple features.  I swear this is the last verizon phone i but unless you stop pretending its the early 2000s.

Yes google messages works. But Samsung Messages works better on our phones and has better features and works better with Samsung watches so we prefer Samsung Messages so make it work with RCS on your network. (unblock it)

Thats a fudgein lie. Did you not read their questions or did you read halfway through and quit cuz you think you're better? He just said everyone else has RCS. Therefore the manufacturer already gives you guys the tech to do it. But you refuse to activate it.

Verizon knows very well what people are asking.  They don't have an answer but I'm floored at the attitude the so called reps showing their customers who have been very clear/articulate about what they want and are asking about.
