Hey Verizon, I think it's time to activate RCS support on your network so phones like the Samsung Galaxy can start using RCS with the native Samsung Messages app. These are flagship phones. Is the new S20 going to not be supported. If Google can take over and make it work regardless of the carriers, then it should be easy for RCS to work across all carriers with any messages app no questions asked. These are modern times with 5G coming out and we still can't use RCS? That's pathetic. Get with the times (and tech) You claim to have the best network? PROVE IT!!!!!!
You have it enabled on the S9 but that phone is "outdated" but it is the only one that supports RCS with Samsung Messages? The S10 and Note 10 should have been updated months ago. And now with the S20 series, they should have it enabled out of the box. This has been really poor customer service. I mean, my $5/month Tello service supports RCS for my kids phone.

Verizon, if you don't know the answer, ask around. Don't forward your customers to another app they don't want to use. Don't answer their questions with more questions. You just make everyone mad and its simply stupid.
This is VZW blocking RCS on the later models as it works on other carriers. Just like how you guys block the VVM tab on the Google phone app when not on pixel devices...forcing people to use your VVM app. Your customers pay a premium and they deserve better than what you're currently saying to them.

Any word on this yet? I've been with Verizon for nearly 20 years. If they can't get their garbage together, I'll have to take my $400 a month somewhere else.

You, the carrier, are blocking RCS support in the native Samsung Messages app. It works with Google Messages, but thatdthat app drains too much battery.
Enable RCS support for all new devices vs only the s9 (it is NOT a manufacturer issue, it is a VERIZON issue). Today. Please and thanks.

What difficulties have you had in enabling this feature?

We want RCS messaging while using Samsung Messages NOT Google messages. We know it will work on the Verizon network with all the newer Samsung phones because you had it working with the older S9. All the phones after that use the same app and features. Verizon is just blocking the S10,Note10,S20,Note20... From using it. If it worked with the S9 it will work with the newer phones. And that's according to Samsung. They told me that Verizon needs to enable and unblock the feature. So have Verizon open their eyes to what the customers want and make it happen. Everyone else has it like T-Mobile...heck even my dad's tracfone supports it.

Samsung devices do support RCS in the native messaging app. We literally just have to wait for verizon to get off its high horse and bring RCS support to its network aside from the awful Verizon+ messages app. I could take my verizon Samsung device to another carrier like t-mobile and get RCS without even updating or downloading anything. ridiculous.

I don't think this is an accurate statement. Galaxy Note 10+ unlocked from Samsung has RCD out the box. You just have to enable it if I'm not mistaken. But I do know it is supported.

That is a lie since it is the carrier that enables the feature.

Umm your wrong. According to Samsung all phones from the S9 and up are compatible with RCS and they told me that the carrier has to activate/implement it so it works. Get your facts straight. You made it work for the S9 phone and all phones after that use the same technology. So there's no excuses.

Jeffc73, clearly you are anxious to enjoy this service with your new phone. As much as we would like to say that this is now available, at this time we do not have any details on when this will be released. Should changes be made, you will see updates on the link previously provided. LorenB_VZW If my response answered your question please click the _Correct Answer_ button under my response. Your link just sends me to an outdated article in how to enable RCS on the Samsung S9 phone. That phone is not available anymore. These canned messages are a joke. if you actually read what people are posting you wouldn't have to come back and ask what phone are you using are you using this app..... Just enable RCS on your network for Samsung messages app and problem solved it worked on the S9 and still works on the S9 as my brother has it and it works for him but it doesn't work on my s20 how is that moving forward in text you guys are going backwards so don't ask me any questions about my phone yes my software is up to date I have the newest apps they are all up to date the only thing missing is the carrier enabling support. Verizon is pathetic with this.

@jeffc73, I am a Samsung user myself and I know how much I enjoyed the RCS feature on the S9. As you stated, there is only one phone that supports RCS on the Samsung Messages app. Although there are plans to add more device selections in the future, it is not yet available for any other devices. These changes are implemented on a software update level, so there is no way to process the RCS change at this time. I have added your idea about adding in the feature on the new Samsung devices in our internal idea forum since your thoughts and your time with us is extremely valued and would be extremely convenient. It would be a sad day if you decided to leave, so your feedback along with the others on this thread has been lifted up. Thank you for your patience.

I agree with jeffc73. I am a Galaxy S20 owner which I purchased from Verizon. It is time that Verizon enable RCS with Samsung Messages on the S20 line of phones. These are top-of-the-line phones from Samsung used on a high-end carrier network. Verizon permits RCS with the S9 and if I use Android Messages as my text app on my S20, RCS is enabled. However, I also like the native Samsung Messages app on my S20, but if I switch to that I lose RCS because it is not enabled on the Verizon network. What reason would Verizon have not to enable this on the S20 line of phones with the Samsung Messages app? Please Verizon, active RCS on your network with the Samsung Messages app.

Yes you need to stop taking away things Samsung offers on phones. Please enable this. I bought an unlocked Note 20 Ultra to get away from Verizon holding updates. I think it will work. I have used Google messages but here is the thing. Most of the people I speak with are Samsung or Apple users. This would be a welcomed addition. You can't blame Samsung. Everything I've asked about you always push it to Samsung. Its not true. We use Samsung messages because it works with the other Samsung apps and this is the only messager app that has scheduled text Messages. Please give us what we paid for or we should get monthly bill credits for taking away a service Samsung has offered.

DanL22, we're know this is important to you. Rest assured that we're working on getting this feature ready, so that when it becomes available, you won't have any problems. We are still working with our current devices to be compatible with the service, and we will continue to add this service to our devices in the future. I would like to echo the frustration of all of the other folks on this thread that moved from the S9 to a newer phone only to find that the RCS features we really enjoyed on the S9 were not available on phones like my brand new S20+. It is even more frustrating knowing that other cell carriers have enabled RCS on newer phones but Verizon has not. It terrible to buy a new phone and feel like the features offered by your carrier have gone backward while people on other carries continue to move forward!
Verizon, please update whatever you need to update to allow RCS on newer phones!

So basically, Verizon is CHOOSING to lag behind every other carrier.
Also trying to blame Samsung for it not being available on anything other than the S9. That's pure dishonesty.
The S21 is coming out in a couple months, and still no RCS for anyone.
I think it's gonna take all of us switching to T-Mobile, and having Verizon numbers drop before they finally push a button and active RCS.

We assure you that we want nothing more then to be able to offer all features available to better your experience with us. In this case, we will only allow updates such as this to roll out if they pass all tests we use for every feature used and released. If this service is having any troubles that would be detrimental to another feature or service, this could lengthen the testing phase we put devices and updates through. If there is any other information that we can look into with you, we are here for you.
