Have you checked the advanced WiFi settings to make sure that the WiFi stays on during sleep?
To get to the advanced WiFi settings, go to Settings->WiFi->Menu->Advanced.
This may/may not help with your problem.

I just recently figured out that the Wifi and the data cannot be on at the same time...I have to turn off my data when I get home to get wifi to connect...as soon as I started doing that I have not had any problems with wifi connecting or randomly losing signal at home with wifi...hope this helps...!
