Sending and receiving texts

Just got the Fascinate and having texting issues.

I cannot receive any. When I send a text, the person only gets my name and no message (blank text). Help?

It sounds like there could be a problem at the switch or with the device itself. I know it can be a pain in the posterior but try calling Customer Service. Honestly, I find it easiest when talking to them by saying one little line. "Stand up, spin around, and put me on the phone with the highest paid person in the room." They are more than willing to help by that point.

just wondering if you found a way to fix ur problem i just got the same phone last nite and everything worked fine then today cant recieve text and when i send one the person gets a blank text.

Could be a few things. First off did you

your phone?

Check to make sure that the following settings match.

go to Menu, Settings, about phone
Check the baseband and build

Check for software updates as well.

If none of that is the problem try to do a *228 option 2 (PRL update) and restart your phone.

If that doesn't seem to be the issue I would say call from a different device into vzw and see if something isn't set up correctly.

Also save all your pics/video to your sdcard because they may need to do a factory reset to get the phone working again.

Nope. I went into the verizon store and the guy at the counter couldn't figure it out. He called tech support; they were clueless as well. The issue was to be escalated and I was to get a call back within 24 hours. Tomorrow will be one week; still no call back. Swinging back by store.. I now have my voicemail state "no new voicemail messages" when in fact there are some. I'm demanding new phone.

I just spent 2 hours on the phone with Verizon tech support.   They were very courteous, but completely stumped as to why my texts  were  received as blank messages by the people I sent them to.  We tried the battery pull, the *228 update, and finally the hard reset.  By this time, when the tech support person sent me a text, it didn't come in to me either.  Thank goodness for online data backup at Verizon!  But...it still didn't solve the issue.  Since I just received the phone yesterday, they are sending me a replacement.  With the admonition that if I don't return this one I'll get charged full price!! ($579!!!) So hope this works!

OK! Cancel the "Thank Goodness" for the Verizon Backup Assistant!  Seems it won't load back to my lemon either!  This has been 2 days of frustration, on top of the 6 hours I spent 4 days ago trying to get my PC to recognize my Blackberry media card, which was the frustration that caused me to purchase the Fascinate in the first place!
