Slow Mobile Hotspot after Switching to Unlimited Plus

I recently switched from an old Get More Unlimited plan to the Unlimited Plus plan because I now don't need so much hotspot data.  Since the switch, my hotspot data connection is very slow.  Sometimes, I just give up waiting.

The new Unlimited Plus plan mentions that it has premium hotspot data.  I can't believe that so called premium data is so slow. My former plan of Get More Unlimited never had this slow data problem. Can I go back to the lower tiered of Play More Unlimted plan for the high speed data?  I tried to call the customer service but never got a real person to help me.

If someone know how to fix this slow data issue, I'll appreciate it very much.

Good news to report to the community.

The tech support has corrected the slow data problem for my hotspot.  After a series of Q/A and testings, the online tech support in this community created a network ticket for me.  I checked my data speed this morning.  It returned to the fast data just as before!

I have been a loyal customer to Verizon.  I feel good that they stepped up to the plate to solve problems when I needed it.  As my location has no Home Internet service, I rely on my hotspot 100% to access the Internet. The slow data was very frustrating.

Just be patient and persistent.  Verizon has good people to serve their customers!

Hey there, SiuTinYee, we know it's important to have reliable data speeds. You mentioned you're seeing slower speeds when using your hotspot. Is using data on your phone still the same? When using your hotspot, is any device connected to it affected? Does this happen at a particular time of day or anything like that?

Hi Lauren,

Thanks for your response. My phone seems unaffected.  Just the hotspot is very slow.  I connect only my desktop to the hotspot.  So, just one device. The slow data is after I switched my plan to unlimited plus, everything being the same.  The slow data is throughout the day.

One thing I noticed is: I switched on 10th of July.  So, it has been 10 days.  I normally use 0.5 - 1 GB a day.  I checked my premium data last night, it shows that I still have 30 GB, i.e., none of my premium data was used.  That is not right at all.  I have been using my hotspot since I switched.  So, I think my account was not set up right because the system is not using my premium data.  Instead, the system gives me just slow data.  That may be why my hotspot is so slow.

Any suggestion to fix it?  Thanks!

SiuTinYee, thanks so much for your reply. Let's check the account to see what the usage is showing on our end as you are correct, you receive 30 GB of premium mobile hotspot data. I have sent you a Private Message for further assistance.
