Spell check NOT working ONLY in Gmail (works elsewhere)

To be clear:  Spell check works elsewhere on other apps e.g. message+

In fact Spell Check WORKS in the Subject Line.........but does NOT work in the Body of the email

I have tried multiple things including the steps outlined here:

To eliminate the possible causes of why the spell check is not working on the Gmail App, please check if you're using the latest version of Gmail app (7.2.26).

If yes, I’d recommend you try the below steps:

• Clear your App's cache and data.

                          Open Phone settings> Select Application manager> Swipe to "All"> Choose Gmail> Clear cache and data.

• Try Unsyncing your Gmail account temporarily. Try this a few times.

                      Settings> Accounts> Google> Select your account> Uncheck Gmail> Check Gmail.

• Remove Gmail Account and setup again.

                          Phone Setting> Accounts> Google> Select your email account> Remove account.                          Re-establish account and re-configure it.

• Decrease the days to sync.

                      Open the Gmail app > Go to Settings> Select your account> Tap on Days to sync> Try limiting it to 30 days or less.

• Make sure that Background data is enabled.

                          Go to Phone settings> Tap on Data Usage> Scroll down to Gmail> Make sure that Restrict background data is not selected.

I also removed the GMail app and reinstalled ..........

Any other suggestions ?
