Did this start after an update?
After you checked all your settings did you restart the phone?
Do you have any other messaging apps on your phone?
If you only have what came with the phone you may want to disable the other app.

RL_N_ANGEL, let's figure out what's causing this message to pop up when you text! Do you have any other text message app installed on your device? When you see this message pop up, does it give the option of "just this once" and "always"? This can set it to automatically choose Verizon Messages+ each time you text, rather than just for that specific message.

Thanks for the information, RL_N_ANGEL. What make/model phone do you have? Do you get the same message if you put your device into safe mode?

Stopping unwanted notifications for a default application is a must, especially when you have already selected a default application, RL_N_ANGEL. I see that Ann154 provided the steps to get to safe mode already. Have you already attempted to duplicate this behavior while in safe mode? What options do you receive when you get the notification about default messaging applications? What happens if you reset your application preferences? Here’s how: Settings > Apps > More (upper right 3 dots) > Reset App Preferences.

Also, we want to clarify if you are still getting the question after you disabled the yellow messaging app.
We look forward to your response.

RL_N_ANGEL, let’s put a stop to this issue once and for all. To clarify, were you able to test your device in Safe Mode yet and if so, what was the result? If you re-enable the default messaging app, do you still get this notification. When does this message appear (randomly, when using certain applications, etc.)?
The next few steps will help us to narrow down the cause of this issue. Please temporarily switch to the default messaging application to see if this notification message still appears and let us know of the result.

Let’s also have your temporarily disable the Verizon Messages Plus app temporarily and notify us of the result.

Please attempt to force stop both messaging applications, to close all recently used Apps, and then restart your phone.

I have this exact same issue, and it's infuriating at times. After doing a power reset, group messages wont come through without major lag (up to a day or more). What I do get is the message OP described. It started about 6 months ago, after a system update.
I've heard that Messaging + doesn't work that well, and would like to just continue with the stock messaging (as I've always done). Kinda surprised more people don't report this. It's a hassle.
