I know its early, but Please post your thoughts and opinions on this new update. Just wanted to know if it solved all of your problems and did it improve battery life any?
If this fix works , Verizon still need to compensate us for the trouble and inconvenience of not able to receive our phone calls and texts. I have had missed call problems since May and i run a business on my phone. There is no telling how much money i have lost during that period. They should atleast offer us one month of free service.
I can't speak to the missed calls yet but I can state that the lag time between screens is not fixed! I am also still experiencing screen freezes where my screens lock up while trying to scroll from one screen to the next. Also - tapping on an "icon" to open a program is still lagging way behind. Sometimes up to 45 seconds or more. This actually seems worse than before.
Ugh.
I think Verizon should send a memo out to every fascinate owner and tell them to go to their local Verizon store and without question, swap out their fascinate, it seems all us are nothing but beta testers since 2.2 Give us Gingerbread now and hopefully that will fix this mess

I would highly recommend doing a factory reset prior to updating to ED05. Start fresh and then add your apps and data.
Still a lousy phone. Did the update and the market shut down on me three times, even after a restart. In addition, the battery is still at 74% even when the phone says it is fully charged. One more thing to add to the list is the phone froze on me a few times even after the restart.
Verizon, I had higher hopes for this phone. Too bad I didn't catch the switch policy before today...
Only issue I have had before ED05 update is the official twitter app caused my phone to crash. After update I now notice my battery indicator is stuck on "Full", slightly annoying, but knowing Verizon I am sure 2.3 will be pushed out right before I trade it in...

So far, so good. I had not done the ED04 update until today, so I did both of them this afternoon. I tried the GPS on my way home after the install, and before the update it would sometimes lock quick, but mostly just sit and wait. My 1 test after the update worked fine, the GPS locked immediatly.( 5 or so seconds).
I will offer this out to people. I was called by a Customer Service Supervisor this evening, because when I talked to the CSR about possibly trading the phone in, I was asked and the end of the call to do the survey which I did, and in the survey I left them a brief message about the problems we all have been having. I spoke with her today at length about the issues, and 1 thing she told me to do was this:
For the next week, if I get a voicemail and the phone had not rang, listen to the voicemail message, and then right after disconnecting, do a star star star and hit send (The * 3 times and then send). This will load the previous few call records into your account database, and a Verizon tech can go in there and tell where possibly the call was dropped by their equipment.
I told her this is the first I have heard of this troubleshooting technique, and that I would be happy to help. She is going to call me back next week and we will look through my 2 Fascinate phones records to see if they can see anything. She said it could be a faulty switch, an overloaded switch, or just that the phone did not get the call. Either way, it will help them troubleshoot the issue.
There is a concept, allow us to help them troubleshoot the problems..
Same here. I just found out today about the replacement policy but it was too late by then. If this fixes all our problems, that'd be great! But the problems that have already incurred make this phone undesireable, especially because so many people got the option of replacing their fascinates.
