I have tried to use Skype on my Facinate by connecting to wireless internet, but I am unable to. I have tried using the installed version of Skype mobile plus I have tried downloading skype from the market.
I just discovered you can't use Skype video abroad, but hope you can use skype email. I'm also frustrated that it can't be done through wifi, which I think is possible with an iphone, or at least ipod touch, with another service. Would love anyone's suggestions for international communication since Fascinate is not a global ready phone.

But I will tell you On Verizon's 2.2 froyo this is possible.
The Skype on market will work than. And you will have be able to turn off
Data.
I just talked to my Brother in Germany Through Skype on wifi.
Just do a google search and you to can find out where froyo 2.2 is. Than you will be set up.
