UPS has lost my wifes phone that was being returned as a trade in

On August 11, 2023  we sent the return phone back as instructed via UPS.  The tracking number shows the phone in Fort Worth, TX and has been there since August 14th.  We are now receiving notices from Verizon about this and when we call UPS they cannot locate it.  What do we do now to get this resolved?   Keep in mind we had no choice in the provider to use to send the phone back that was determined by Verizon.
